I have seen the wonderful work within the Photo Album, and one thing that always strikes me, is the detail within the eyes of the character. Is this a special technique? (sorry if spelling is wrong) Only when I try and do the eyes, they always seem flat, a sort of lak of depth and shine to them.

I am sorry that I am asking so many questions.

Taz

There are new sets of eyes different from the standard ones, Sometimes I use "real eyes". Basically they are props that you have to parent to the eyes and then you've to make the eyes invisible so that only the props will be shown.

I use a set of eyes taken from the "Eve" posette by Arduino (search at Renderosity) that is a fully comformable posette (she has the same shape) but with different body zones. "Eve"is a special Posette who can do movements that the standard Posette can't do and have a set of eyes with different and customizable parts: retina, cornea and so on (the name are in italian because Arduino is italian).

I have 2 type of Posette, standard and "Eve", they are the same because I exported from one to the other all the morphs with "the taylor" and "morphmanager" and I exported the Eve's eyes as obj files and the reimported them to the standard Posette, parented them to the eyes and fixed the texture (if you export a body part as an object the transparecy disappears ) The "Eve " eyes texture have a separate and comfortable texture map to work on, very easy.

For the texture: I use to steal the eye texture that I like from free sets present on the net and simply cut and paste it to my texture map (It's very easy, the eyes texture is round and you've only to put it in the right place on the map and resize it...)

P.S. I made the same with the teeth, I'm using the props for Mayadoll and I made the original teeth invisible...

I use the regular posette, so i don't know if the tip i have for eyes would work on eve...If you look at a photo of eyes you see that the eyewhite isn't completely white, it has tiny bloodveins in it ( so i paint bloodveins on the eyewhites on the texture) and also depending on the light, the shine/reflections that one can see on the iris continous on the eyewhite ( so i paint shine/refection that continous on the eyewhite)

At RDNA (runtimedna.com) there is a freestuffsection, they have lenses for Vic and Mike, with a little tweaking you can use this eyelenses also for Posette and Dork. They give "highlight"-look, great effect. I often use the lenses.

Also if you want to make your own eyes they have some eye brushes over in the freestuff at rendervisions....I believe that they are for photoshop with different versions for each program. When you use them you can use various effects within the photoshop to add more texture and highlights to the eyes making them look pretty realistic although they will never really look as real as photorealistic eyes would be. It just takes a little bit of practice to make them look good.

Wow, I got plenty of excellent advice. Thank you to all of you for your help.
I have plenty of new things to try out now.

I find that whenever I do a close up image of the face, the eyes always seems to let me down, so I shall be busy now at the weekend.

Well, I have been busy working with the eyes today. I have tried various methods that have been suggested, and although it is very early days for me, I am quite surprised at the results.

No doubt that when I get the eyes right, there will be something else that will have me puzzled.
