Post subject: POSER 7 Crash!
I just installed poser 7. But 3 seconds after executing the .exe, it crashed to the desktop!

Am I forgetting a patch, or an update?

my specs:

512MB Video Card
3 GHz Processor
2GB Ram

Hmmmm......with the specs above I think it would be unthinkable for poser to crash! I mean, I ran a game with pixel shader 2.0 at full resolution without a hitch (Red Alert 3)

Any suggestions? I want to try the 'brush' morphing tool badly.

What OS? Windows XP SP2 or 3? Or maybe Vista. If it is Vista then their are issues with it.
If you are using a heavy applications then you have to change the bucket size. This will slow
the P7 software to slow down on render ,but will give you a render without crashing. I have seen this
happen to many times. Also the render size will shut it down as well depending on the bulk
of the image you are wanting to create. I hope this helps because I need a bit more information
on just what you are rendering and how it is rendered.

And I didn't even get to render it. 3 seconds after clicking it to start the program, it crashes to the desktop. Just the initial POSER 7 logo and BAM! Desktop.

Hi hanzonushinrei

Was it the first time ever you launched the program ? Or you modified something and now it chrashes ?

In any case, I read on e-frontier forum of some settings to try to modify manually with an editor ... I'll take a look after work ...

I found this:

http://www.contentparadise.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10276

It looks like an OpenGl problem (maybe), if you have an Nvidia try to change the settings like it's said in that thread. You can even contact their online support and upgrade it to SR 3. Let us know

And, I seem to have mistaken......it is not actually poser 7, but Poser Pro 7. Is it different?

Not the e frontier's Poser 7, but Smith Micro's Poser Pro 7.

Found this

http://www.contentparadise.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2745

and this

http://www.contentparadise.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9758

and read this

http://www.contentparadise.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8300

for poser.ini editing

and look at this, maybe it's your problem:

http://www.contentparadise.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9555

One unexpected thing about P7 seems to cause a lot of similar
problems: it stores part of its preference files under Documents and
Settings and part in the Poser directory. The installer doesn't change
the files in Documents and Settings, so if one of those files is
causing the problem, reinstalling won't touch it. You have to get
in there and delete it.

Look under
c:Documents and SEttings (your name)Application DataPoser 7
and try deleting Poser.ini and preferredState.pz3 in that folder.
Poser will then generate fresh preference files the next time you
start it.

(Or better, move those files elsewhere so you can move them
back if they're not the problem.)

Did you try changing your preview to SReed and not OpenGL?

it looks like he can't open it at all, he should do it directly in the setting file (poser.ini)

If it is any consolation, your hassles have helped me with my Poser 7 install - I had some of the problems here, and was cursing my new PC... should have realised it was a OPenGL problem in the first place. Now all seems to be functioning...

...just waiting for my new render beastie to arrive so I can really push Poser 7 hard.
