Post subject: Posette Animation To Genesis 3?
Hey everyone, I need to convert 4 animations from a client to work with Genesis 3 male and female characters.

(They used Posette for years, but they now want )

The animator used P4 Posette to create the animations in Poser.

Since the bones of P4 and Genesis 3 are quite different, the animation of course doesn't work with Gen 3.

I am not a rigging expert at all. And I use DAZ Studio. (I used Poser before that So, I could use your help with this.

Is there a way to export animations from Poser to the Genesis 3 characters?

Or a way to convert the animation to work with Gen3? I really don't want to have to go through and edit the bones in my Gen 3 characters for this...

Helppp! lol
Glenn

Hello and welcome Glenn!

I'm no specialist in animation nor have I ever worked with DAZ|Studio and Genesis. I've found Posette and V4 rigging quite similar and often almost compatible with some tweaks, but I don't know how different V4 and G3 are.
Good luck anyway. Maybe someone else can be of more help...

Hi Ahjah, thanks for your reply.

Yes, I tried to use the animation as is, but it doesn't work at all. The bones and names are quite different, as you can see in the attached image. The upper character is Posette, with Gen 3 below that.

So, I was hoping someone had written a script to go through the BVH file and convert it to Gen 3.

Cheers,
Glenn

Oh yes I see, this looks very much different than even V4. Might be difficult 'cause some additional information has to be added to the BVH, not just the joint's positions

IMHO, this would need something like EE's 'CrossDresser', taken to next level...

I had a hunt around the wwweb, found only 'echoes' of your query until...

PhilC's 'Puppet Master' only works in Poser.
http://www.contentparadise.com/productdetails.aspx?id=172

But, as eg Poser 10 (x32) is only $20~30, it *might* offer a work-around...

Care: I cannot remember which DAZ figure is what generation 'Genesis' or otherwise...

IIRC, there are 3rd Party scripts which will 'upgrade' poses & motion from V4 to later....

Welcome to PF.

I'll point you here for how you get your animation out of Poser, and you don't have to watch it all to get the information:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r9u1CHF8b5c

I'll point you here for reference, for a similar query:
https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discus...dit-bvh-motions

As you can see you will have to tweak your finished output to work. It's a real shame you're not working in Poser as it's awesome for dealing with mocap, as the above video points out.
