Post subject: Re: [Tutorial] Full Body Morphs in Blender
15 Let's open Blender Import the _JOIN .obj in the optins select only "Morph Target" and set Clamp Scale to zero
rayera [ Thursday, 26 July 2007, 02:04 AM ]
Post subject: Re: [Tutorial] Full Body Morphs in Blender
16 Do your morph, with this procedure you can use the Smooth, Inflate, Flatten tools without problem, here I tryed
to make him more muscular.
rayera [ Thursday, 26 July 2007, 02:05 AM ]
Post subject: Re: [Tutorial] Full Body Morphs in Blender
17 Now let's export the morphed Don, in the options select only "Selection Only", "Rotate X90", "Morph Target"
and don forget "UVs" it will save you some steps later in UVmapper
rayera [ Thursday, 26 July 2007, 02:12 AM ]
Post subject: Re: [Tutorial] Full Body Morphs in Blender
18 Start UVMapper then load your morphed Don, go to Edit/Select/All or press Ctrl+A, go to Edit/Assign/To Group
then give the name Body_jv and OK, save your obj with the default options
rayera [ Thursday, 26 July 2007, 02:14 AM ]
Post subject: Re: [Tutorial] Full Body Morphs in Blender
19 Let's open Compose again, go to read file in the input file select the morphed obj, in Vertex Map File select
the map you saved in step 14 then click on Read
rayera [ Thursday, 26 July 2007, 02:16 AM ]
Post subject: Re: [Tutorial] Full Body Morphs in Blender
20 Expand the All Objects folder and select Body_jv then go to Read Files, in Input File select the full obj exported
from Poser in step 9-10 select Merge with current file the Read
rayera [ Thursday, 26 July 2007, 02:19 AM ]
Post subject: Re: [Tutorial] Full Body Morphs in Blender
21 Expand the All Objects folder and select Body_jv again, go to Morph Parent Objects, select Delete Source Objects
then OK
rayera [ Thursday, 26 July 2007, 02:21 AM ]
Post subject: Re: [Tutorial] Full Body Morphs in Blender
22 Again Open All Objects folder and again select Body_jv then go to Delete Items select all items you have
remember you can click the first then SHIFT+click the last one then go to Save Items In the Ouput File
browse to the final destination of your Full Body Morph, give it a final name then Write
rayera [ Thursday, 26 July 2007, 02:23 AM ]
Post subject: Re: [Tutorial] Full Body Morphs in Blender
23 At last in Poser, import your proceced obj with all the options unselected
rayera [ Thursday, 26 July 2007, 02:25 AM ]
Post subject: Re: [Tutorial] Full Body Morphs in Blender
24 Now it's a great idea to have the python scripts open with our tools, open the Hierarchy Editor and with the imported
prop selected open the Group Editor (3) then click on Spawn Props (4), now we have all the body parts as single props
and the imported prop still there, select it in the hierarchy Editor then press DEL key, it mean delete it.
rayera [ Thursday, 26 July 2007, 02:27 AM ]
Post subject: Re: [Tutorial] Full Body Morphs in Blender
25 Now lets export the HipNG prop (2) with the options we allways use (1) then delete it too, at this point is very important to delete
the body parts not afected by the body morphs, it will optimize your full body morph not afecting useless body parts
and increasing memory use, then load Don
rayera [ Thursday, 26 July 2007, 02:30 AM ]
Post subject: Re: [Tutorial] Full Body Morphs in Blender
26 Be shure Genitalia is on for the figure, select it in the Hierarchy then fire Morph fron OBJ tool (2)
be shure that Delete loose Props? and Set Morphs to 1.000? ar selected (3), Give a name to yor morph
then click on Move Morphs and see the magic happend if you sometime did full body morphs with the old
procedure will love it.
Posy [ Thursday, 26 July 2007, 02:30 AM ]
Post subject:
"it" being Set Morphs to 1point 000?
rayera [ Thursday, 26 July 2007, 02:33 AM ]
Post subject: Re: [Tutorial] Full Body Morphs in Blender
27 Now tourn Genitalia off and you will see the hip don't match with the full body morph, let's fix it
select the hip then go to te Properties in the parameters panel then go to Add Morph Targets, load the HipNG
saved in step 25, and give the same name you used for the morph, go to the parameters
rayera [ Thursday, 26 July 2007, 02:34 AM ]
Post subject: Re: [Tutorial] Full Body Morphs in Blender
28 The HipNG morph will be MORPHNAME 1, in my case Muscular 1, set it to 1.000, go to Figure/Create Full Body Morph (2)
give it the same name you used for the single morphs, then click in the Zero MorphERC tool, and done, go to the body
of your figure, and test your new morph, set genitalia on and off and see if everything is OK then save your figure
rayera [ Thursday, 26 July 2007, 02:39 AM ]
Post subject: Re: [Tutorial] Full Body Morphs in Blender
The final result, yes I know, it's not a good morph, but it's not that bad at all

Some recomendations:
The procedure looks tedious and long, but once you do it twice you will do it very fast, anyway the procedure
is by far better than the old procedure of loadinging every morph target body part by body part, the procedure
of joining vertices to create a single mesh is not needed just for Blender, you need to to the same to use
the smooth tool in Zbrush as well, a good idea is to work metodically, Creating several morph in Blender,
doing the UVmapper procedure for all this morphs then the Compose part, then the Poser part, it's a fast
way of working, allway have a copy of the original Poser exported obj, the joinned obj and the map in the same
folder as the morphs for easy browsing, I'm shure you can see some steps are not needed with characters thant
doesn't have any kind of alternate geometry, most of female, but P6 Jessy have one.

Great tutorial rayera. I'm having a problem with the export though. For export you said to have Selection Only, UVs, Rotate X90 and Morph Target. I downloaded the new version of blender and I can't find the Morph Target option for when I need to do my export. Any help you could give me would be great.

Post subject: Re: [Tutorial] Full Body Morphs in Blender
Marv, I used Blender 2.48a for this screen capture, is this what you are looking for?
Marv [ Wednesday, 26 November 2008, 03:15 AM ]
Post subject: Re: [Tutorial] Full Body Morphs In Blender
That IS the option that I am looking for in Blender 2.48a, which I found in Blender 2.46. In Blender 2.48a that I downloaded today doesn't even give me the same menu as what you are showing here. So if you and I are using the same version then the only thing I can think of is that there must be a step or two that I missed somewhere.

Here is what I get when I want to export the obj file.

Post subject: Re: [Tutorial] Full Body Morphs in Blender
Marv, I think I've found the problem, I have different options because when I install a new Blender release I never remove the application data located in document and setings, I uninstalled everything and removed all directories and reinstalled Blender 2.48a and now I have the same options as you
I did a test morph and the option "morph target" now is "Keep Vert Order" just put your pointer over it and wait some seconds and read the help
The morph I did worked perfectly, please try and comment how did it work for you.

Hope I've been helpful, and happy morphing

Post subject: Re: [Tutorial] Full Body Morphs In Blender
Thanks Rayera for the help.
It works and I was able to create a morph

Now that I know how the buttons are set up it works. And I found out why the head shifted off the body and dropped to the floor. I was inadvertantly moving the head object when I was doing my morphing so when I exported it the head wasn't in it's proper position. So how do I move the camera angles around so I can get closeup to work on an object without physically moving the object like I have been?

Post subject: Re: [Tutorial] Full Body Morphs in Blender
I'm happy you solved your problem
Now loot at this tutorial to know how to configure the interface for better navigating in blender 3D space,

http://www.posetteforever.com/discussion2753.html

and look for the 26.jpg and 25.jpg parts (they are in the page 2) for how to move in 3d space and how to get the best view.
Please ask if you have any doubt, I'm sure we all want to see your morphs

Just a tip, once in sculpt mode you can change the brush size very fast pressing the F key

Post subject: Re: [Tutorial] Full Body Morphs In Blender
Thank you so much for all of your help rayera. I'll be doing some morphing here in a few days or so and will be sure to post my results.

Wings 3D has been good for me when I'm doing props and will continue using it for that purpose. Blender is proving to be extremely useful for morph work and I am enjoying using it very much. I have tried using Morph putty with some success and a friend of mine let me try out Argile which is rather easy to use as well. Overall I think I gotta give it to Blender. Have you tried Morph Putty and/or Argile?

Post subject: Re: [Tutorial] Full Body Morphs in Blender
Happy you are on it now!
I used Wings 3D before Blender to do some modeling, but now I'm hooked to Blender, I promised a tutorial about basic modeling props and/or dynamics,
but I have some problems with new features of blender (I think at the end will do the tutorial in the old way )
I think I tried morph putty some time ago, but I think it works using existing morphs in the character :mmmh:, I use sometime Poser sculpt tool
for a fast and easy morph, works fine, never tried Argile, I have Zbrush, but will not upgrade to new versions any more,
since for me Blender (a free software) have the functions I use.

Didn't mean to be a jerk, but i just didn't see the info... been trying to figure out how to move stuff to blender for a while now...

Anyway. Thanks for the tutorial.

No problem. Just take a look at the top of the page and hit the first one and go from there. A lot of people are using blender. Except myself. I use 3DS Max. It does what I need it to do. But blender is free and a great modeler. Welcome to the site and no you are not being a jerk. We are a friendly place and like to help. So feel free to take a look around.
