About your HD  :mmmh: first, it's an IDE or a SATA or else ? and when you plug in to the power supply, does it revs or it's dead ?

You could bypass the bios filling manually the data of the HD (number of cylinders etc.) and try to access, if it revs, but it looks like something burned on the HD board. In this case, trying to recover the data is possible but it will cost you a lot, so better to buy a new one and discard it. If I would have very precious data on it I would have bought a similar model, maybe used on ebay and I would have tried to change the board, it's not so difficult but one can't know what will be the results :dontknow:

About virus and trojans, you need a very good antivirus, my bro at uni finds a lot of viruses when one of his friends plugs in a storage key in his notebook...
