Post Sorry, it's me again

#1  tazman 09 Nov 2004 23:54

Hi all,
Sorry it's the old geyser again.
This is a problem I am having only with the Poser 5 figures, Posette is ok.
When I go into the material room and select the eyes, there is no image map already selected, so I create a new node and select the P5 male eyes. I turn off the transparencies, etc. But when I render the image, my poor chap has no eyes!!!

I have been trying for 2 days to get this to work, the only thing that I have discovered is that the p5 male (I expect the p5 female will be the same) grabs the image from the bottom right of the image. This is where there is a type of grid thing. Sorry can't think what it's called. So I tried to take the image map into my paint program and created an eye in the bottom right of the image, when I took this into Poser it worked, but a little false looking.

I hope that I have explained the problem that I am having, and that someone can help me.

Thank you all
Taz

It's very late here, tomorrow I'll try with P5 characters. Anyway you can use th UVMAPPER on the obj file of the character to determine exactly where is the map of the eyes. You can save the uvmapper's map and use it as a layer-guide to paint the eyes...

More detailed istructions later.... Now...

night night...

Thank you ahjah.

Tormentor, Poser 5 has a folder containing the texture maps for the Judy and Don figures. Within that folder there is a texture map for the eyes, but when you select it in the materials room, the eye obj does not point to the middle of the texture where the eye map is, rather to the bottom right. hence this causes poor Don to have white eyes.

I apologise for keep asking questions, I will learn how to use this program.

Tazman, try to learn Uvmapper, it's very simple and it's free (search it at rosity or with a search engine or ask here). Every character (.cr2) refers to an obj file which is the shape of the characther. it's usually under the "geometry" folder. Anyway you should have a "Don.cr2" character under a subdirectory of the "libraries/figures" subdirectory, look in this file with a text editor and search for "obj" (the notepad works fine) so that you can see the path of the obj file. Then use the uvmapper on this file and create a map of the character so that you can see where the map of the eyes has to go. You can simply use this map as a layer in order to create a map with the texture in the right place (a simple cut&paste). Try and then ask for help, we are here to serve

tazman:

The best way to learn is by using the thousands of tutorials posted by others over the years as
far as Poser is concerned.  Using Google, you should be able to get any Poser info that you want.
As a beginner, there is nothing that you can ask that hasn't already been asked.
Pretty much every topic has been covered with examples.
The question that you asked is probably explained in the Poser help file that came with your
copy of Poser 5.

Hi all,
I have worked out what I have done wrong.
I had used a texture map for the eyes that was meant for a MAT eye pose. This is why I went wrong.
I also found out that you cannot export a P5 figure with MAT poses without causing problems.
hmmmmmmm perhaps I should learn to walk before I can run

Thank you for the advice, I am sorry to be such a pain in the butt
