P4NW and P4 Male Skeleton rendered in Poser 4, with my own textures on everything appearing in the scene. Updo Hair by Kozaburo, Mask by Mr X.

I never used the P4 skeleton much, but I''ve been looking closely at it lately. Hmmm-- the thing has no teeth? Unfortunately the texturing of ol'' skelly doesn''t break out the head separately (compared to Posette and Dork), so a map of massively high resolution would be required to paint some teeth on him (barring reworking the material zones in UV Mapper).

In this example he also had a bad texturing seam on the sides of his angular skull (not entirely his fault, apart from low resolution). This recommended me to put a bit of oil-painting cast on this image in postwork in order to blend it, even though Posette looked wonderful (as always!) in the raw output render.

For those who never noticed (like myself), the skeleton''s hands are very interesting. He doesn''t have individually poseable fingers, but there''s a morph dial on each hand offering 20 preset finger configurations. I guess there are always new things to learn about the P4 models, even after all this time.

Mostly Molly Mostly

<a href="https://www.posetteforever.com/album_showpage.php?pic_id=8689"><img src="https://www.posetteforever.com/album_thumbnail.php?pic_id=8689" alt="" /></a>Pic Description: Rendered in Poser 4.

I recently posted in the forum about Molly Mostly, an original Posette character by Rad. She was a famous Posette around the year 2000, star of her own digital comic book called ''The Erotic Adventures of Molly Mostly and Company.''

The comic consisted of about 130 separate rendered scenes by Rad, and told a nutty sci-fi tale about a Mary-Sue type scientist (Molly) lost in a fantasy dimension. The campy comic erotica appears to have been strongly influenced by the 1968 film ''Barbarella'' as well as an old print comic called ''Little Annie Fannie'' that appeared in Playboy magazine throughout the 1960s and 1970s. As far as I can determine, Rad''s once-free comic unfortunately is no longer available for inspection anywhere.

The comic book download also included a face morph for the protagonist, and I''ve recently been using that in an attempt to recreate the character. I can only say there was far more to Molly Mostly''s eccentric face geometry than Rad''s morph alone accomplishes. After several sessions of spinning various morph dials while paging back and forth through the comic book, the two slightly different results seen here were the best I could accomplish in my attempts to recreate Molly''s original looks. Both are close in facial appearance to Rad''s Molly, but still not quite her. Thus these results should be called Mostly Molly Mostly. :)

As far as I can determine, Molly Mostly did not have a ''signature pose'' as a comic-book heroine, so the ways I''ve posed her in this image are probably as good as any other for that purpose. As a character, Molly was mostly memorable for her complex facial expressions rather than her bodily stance. Molly''s lips are very thick and her mouth very narrow, which makes posing a smile on her a challenge. Both of the Mollies shown here look very happy on closeups, but not so much from afar.

Apart from the face, I was able to accurately recreate several of the original Molly''s outfits, as these were (for the most part) standard P4 clothing items.

On the left, masked version of Molly Mostly wears the P4 Halter Dress (with skirt made transparent), Gerald Day''s morph version of the P4 Dress Skirt), Black Stockings by SiCo3D, and the P4 Women''s Heeled Boots. The coloration of these items duplicates the Masked Molly''s wardrobe in her comic.

I made the face mask by using the Grouping tool on Posette''s face and spawning a prop in Poser 4. I made her remaining accessories using primitive objects. The red belt around Molly''s waist is called her ''Moon Belt.'' According to the comic, wearing the belt makes takes the edge off her wild swings of passion, allowing her to maintain a clear head and composure. Otherwise (without the belt) she''s insatiably lusty, as some side-effect of the process which sent her to another dimension in the first place.

On the right is regular Molly Mostly, as she appears on the preview picture for her face morph. For some reason never adequately explained in the comic, whenever Molly Mostly takes off her face mask, her hair instantly changes from pinkish-red to orange, so I duplicated that for look number 2. Regular Molly wears the P4 Catsuit with a transparency map and the P4 Tennis Shoes. The clothing is colored to match the original image by Rad.

Both Mostly Mollies shown here use the same hair as the original character by Rad, which I fortunately had in my archives. It''s called ''Hair with Bangs,'' and came with the P3 Xena the Warrior Princess character by renapd. For those who don''t have the old renapd figure, this polyglot hairstyle consists of three models glued together: P4 Child Hair, P4 Female Hair 3, and P4 Female Hair 4. Although Rad''s own Molly Mostly appeared to have a texture applied to the hair, I gave up on that hopeless task, as the hair model is a horrible mess in terms of texturing.

In the background is Brainstem, a Zygote robot character included with Poser 4. Brainstem was a supporting character in Molly''s comic. In a minor scene typical of the larger story, Brainstem saves Molly from importune by a salacious rhinocerous. The grateful heroine then helps the robot ''clean out his clogged tubing,'' which afterward improves Brainstem''s speech algorithms to poetic eloquence. :)

Behind everyone is a nice freebie prop called ''Backprop Wall 2'' by A::D:P. For most of the comic storyline, Molly Mostly is lost in a run-down urban landscape similar in appearance to this.

Over There

<a href="https://www.posetteforever.com/album_showpage.php?pic_id=8686"><img src="https://www.posetteforever.com/album_thumbnail.php?pic_id=8686" alt="" /></a>Pic Description: While the regiment was on training maneuvers, one of the troopers somehow managed to shoot himself in the foot. Sgt PD of the 14th Infantry (left) directs Sgt Posay (right) of the 73rd Medical Corps to the scene of the accident.

P4NM and P4NW, rendered in Poser 4. Prop credits here would be a very long list indeed, so I''ll simply say thank you to all free prop creators of bygone days, without whose contributions these detailed custom characters would not have been possible.

The background photo was by Hobobo, who once had a massive gallery of similar photo props at the now-defunct ShareCG. If anyone knows whether he currently has an online presence or gallery where those things are archived, I''d like to know. I have tried internet searching, but haven''t been able to turn up anything. Unfortunately the Wayback Machine doesn''t work for ShareCG, because a registered log-in was required to download anything on that site.

The Poser 4 era was a golden age of free models for comic book and superhero characters, but not very notable for more mundane military or soldier characters. I only have a few, and those are mostly World War 2 era characters or Warhammer sci-fi troopers. I was thinking I needed some more contemporary looking soldiers (yet still from a fantasy world), so I combed through the old props chests, patched it all together like a quilt, and came up with the results shown here.

The Adventures of Barbarella

In this case I had found some of renapd''s Barbarella outfit files. renapd had remapped Posette''s catsuit into two different versions. There were no textures, and no images of what the outfit was suppose to look like but you could get a good idea by just looking through the internet at all the still images of Jane Fonda in the costumes used in the movie. In my hunting I also found PoserWorld''s Thigh boots used in the project and the gun. Also in my hunting I fould a really cool texture freebie called DNA Dragon Scales by creed3d. I converted the freebie to iray textures. That is what I used on the catsuit and the boots. The model is Valeri P4 by stahratte. The model uses Posette morphs and textures but there is a bit of V2 in the mix. Her face is 3Dream''s Cara and her hair is Kozaburo''s Morph hair that is contained in Arduino''s Eve 2 freebie and her skin texture is 3Dream''s old texture. Her jewelry is by traveler. The finger nail is a V4 freebie Freebie Vampy-4.0, by Maikaefer-Mai3d.
The background uses the old temple ruins by DAZ3D, the ship and tenticals are Dreampaint and the background is Cyclo Drop by Traveler

Rendered in Poser 4. Known prop credits (all free items): Triangular Door and Scotty Hair 2 by Mylochka, TOS Male Shirt and Female Trek Boots by WarriorDL, AofD Boots by AofD, Classic Trek Pants by tonyo1701, TOS Phaser by strontium_90, TOS Tricorder by BrainGuy63, Pantyhose (Posette) by SiCo3D. The tentacly monster here is a nice static prop (ie not a poseable figure) called Star Mushroom by smanor.

I had some serious trouble here with the background wall/door, which has UV mapping problems; most of the materials won''t accept any texturing in Poser 4. So I had to overlay it with another wall of my own (which blocked the doorway of course), make 2 renders, and blend them in postwork. Other than that, the image came together rather quickly thanks to all these nice props from bygone days.

But incremental improvements do accumulate over time, and Dork continues to progress every time I work on him. For a long time in the past, I gave him very different face structures, but at this point I think the nostalgia of his somewhat iconic face has grown on me significantly. Unless I''m making some specific character for some specific purpose or scene, for the most part I now leave my everyday studio Dork''s face recognizable in his traditional basic features. I still prefer him over later generation models such as Michael or Apollo because P4NM is easy to work with-- easy to texture, quick to pose, and fast to render.

Rendered in Poser 4, with my own textures on everything except the background wall and the cigar. Prop credits: standard P4 Polo Shirt, Hair Braid M by Zygote (from the Costume Shop P4 add-on), Backprop Wall by A::D:P (freebie), Cigar by Jim Farris (freebie), RJ_stash by RJ (freebie), MoistEyes by momodot (this last freebie prop helps Dork just as well as Posette!).

Postwork here was minimal on Dork himself. However, the P4 Polo Shirt is not a particularly good model for posing. The shirt shoulders blew out badly in this pose, so I had to do some repainting on those.
