Post subject: How To Create A DAZ Studio Weight-mapped Version Of Posette
To create a weight-mapped figure in DAZ do the following:
<br />
Load up Posette (or any other figure) in a empty scene
<br />
On the scene tab go to the upper right corner and left click on the little arrow with the four lines
<br />
Look for Edit click on the arrow
<br />
Look for Rigging click on the arrow
<br />
Look for Convert Figure to Weight mapping.. It is like third from the bottom of the list. Click on the arrow
<br />
Select TriAx (Local) Weight Mapping
<br />
Select Accept.
<br />
<br />
At this point you need to decide if you are going to add SubD and/or Smoothing. The reason being that those two changes can have a significant impact on how Posette will respond when you inject any morphs. DAZ has problems knowing how to deal with the .pz2 files. This is because DAZ and Poser use two different methods of creating the JCMs and such. There also can be some distortion of the mesh due to using just the default weight maps as well but if you don't put her into extreme poses you might not see this.
<br />
<br />
To add sub-division
<br />
On the scene tab go to the upper right corner and left click on the little arrow with the four lines
<br />
Look for Edit click on the arrow
<br />
Look for Geometry click on the arrow
<br />
Look for Convert to SubD... and select it.
<br />
With Posette (or the figure you are working on figure)selected.
<br />
In the parameters tab, look for Mesh Resolution. I like to see what the figure will look like so on the View SubD Level I set it to 2.
<br />
<br />
To add smoothing
<br />
On the scene tab go to the upper right corner and left click on the little arrow with the four lines
<br />
Look for Edit click on the arrow
<br />
Look for Geometry click on the arrow
<br />
Look for Add Smoothing Modifier... and select it.
<br />
With Posette (or the figure you are working on figure)selected.
<br />
In the parameters tab, look for Mesh Smoothing... and select it.
<br />
<br />
To save out you new Posette (or other figure)
<br />
Go up to File
<br />
Select Save As..
<br />
Go to the bottom of the list
<br />
Select Support Asset
<br />
Select Figure/Prop Assets...
<br />
Name the new Posette file. I created a directory under People\P4NudeWoman\Character\
<br />
Hit save
<br />
Fill out the Options box. I make sure that under Asset Definitions I have all three of the Write boxes checked.
<br />
Click on Accept.
