Post subject: My new baby
Here's what our dog found hiding behind her dog house this last sat, we were able to capture it in a pet carrier I had and have adopted him. His name is Lil' Bit and he's the cutest sweetest little guy I've met. Looks to still be pretty young but is eating baby food and a few other things and has a big sweet tooth for baby juice which I'm trying to limit him on.

Send me a baby racoon, skunk (desented of course), a baby bobcat and for the kids a baby armadillo!

You can leave the snakes there, grew up where there were rattlesnakes, my cousin even got bit as a kid by one and almost died, lost the end of his index finger due to the gangreen that set in from it. My parents used to see the amadillos all the time in Texas, and their little dog loved to chase them and try and catch them. Skunks make great pets I've heard if they have been raised from a baby and are descented.
This little guy is so cute, you hadn't better run over him or I'll have to smack ya with a stick lol
It's like having a newborn baby in the house....get him up and feed him, clean up his mess, cuddle him a bit and then let him go back to sleep. Now if I could just find some tiny pampers (looking at the big wet spot on her lap after holding the baby)

Tormie, get posy a opossum and make her happy

its a cutie. he was just outside on his own? the poor lil thing, luckily your dog didn't try "playing" with him. at first i thought it was a hedgehog, heh. i used to have one of those, the damn things are crazy cute but crazy, they run alllllllll night long, and live much like a cat (similar food and use of a cat pan).

Sad news, the baby Opossum died just a little while ago. I don't know why for sure, other than he was just so tiny and I don't think he was totally weaned from his natural mom and just failed to thrive. He was eating somewhat for me, esp if I gave him his food on a small measuring spoon, and last night I saw him drinking his water which I had never seen him do before. He was actually full of piss and vinager last night, wanted on the floor and once there he was crusing all over our kitchen floor until I had to pick him up because I was afraid he was going to get behind the stove or fridge where I couldn't get him out. Today though he just seemed lifeless when I went to get him out and check his food and water, wasn't long before he was gone. I didn't know what to feed him and got no help from the vet or pet stores I called so I was making do with baby foods, juices and some canned cat food. I guess that wasn't a substitue for his mom's milk
Well the kids want to bury him in the yard so tomorrow I guess we hold a funeral for him.
At least I have some pictures of him for memories and I'll stick to my bird and dog from now on to be mommy to.

I agree with Tormentor...that is a wild animal, and likely died...because it was seprated from
it`s mum too.
the mum may have been killed by a car...we get lots of possum road kill...deer, and coons too.
You did your best G.P.

It is possible that he was too young, or there is another possibility. Most animal who are born in litters are like fraternal twins with humans. However, with these critters, they are even closer to each other than identical twins. Their litters are more like a litter of clones rather than of twins, tripplets or whatever. So there is an off chance that the little one's siblings met a tragic end at that time and he was like a twin who share the fate of a distant twin.

Pangor
