Wardrobe Wizard Vs Cross-Dresser...
-----------------------------------
Getting harder to find new 'off the peg' freebies for Posette, and I'm discovering that my 3D modelling skills --and patience-- are not up to crafting smart outfits...

But, out there are two (2) rival products which will convert conforming garments between figures...

I like PCooke's Wardrobe Wizard's style, especially as it will run stand-alone.

I like EvilInnocence's CrossDresser's pricing as I'd only need two licences --for conversions TO P4M & P4F...

Thoughts ??

Background is that a lot of the costumes I need to visualise my story are Fantasy / Anime-ish. I could use Aiko3, MayaDoll, M3 etc as body-doubles but, like hiding poke-through limbs is a last resort, I would prefer to keep everything 'strictly' P4F/M...

For one thing, I must watch the polygon counts, and DAZ' folk are very complex...

Adapting Dynamic Clothes With EI's CrossDresser......
-----------------------------------
Hi, do we know if EI's CD can convert dynamic clothes ?

{FX: ###!! Aaagh, forum editor ate an exceptionally eloquent paragraph... }

Ok, if a 'dynamic' garment is a pre-grouped OBJ iteratively tweaked by clothes-room to fit one (1) character, then both PC's WW and EI's CD must use a similar system, starting with *anything*-- Even garments intended to conform to the target character ??

Can EI's CD 're-cut' GG's infamous P4 gowns, wonderfully cut and ornamented, but notorious for their misfits and poke-throughs ??

Re: Wardrobe Wizard Vs Cross-Dresser...
-----------------------------------
Thats a good question but I think you still can make it dynamic when you convert the obj. file.
As for the reason of being on line with the software. The first version required an on line activation. Which was in my way of thinking didn't make a lot of sense. Things like Microsoft and other high end software I could see this but this software being free and a PC that you are going to have off line was starting to be a big headache. Some people have PCs off line because of the large amount of things in them. So the makers decided to make a version that didn't require the activation. Now I am talking about the first question about Crassdresser. I am not sure about EI's CD. But Poser 5 will do the set up on Dynamic clothing but that is for 5,6,and 7. Poser 3 and 4 will not do Dynamics. Power to the people. :notworthy:

A final note here. If you have any clothing you can use Crossdresser to cloth any Posette. So I would look at other cloth models with better quality to put on your Posette. I do it all the time. Hope this helps you NIK. :thumb:

Re: Wardrobe Wizard Vs Cross-Dresser...

I don't know the other software but CD works fine. I prefer dynamic dresses BTW, they don't need to be converted because they are... dynamic :D , just scale the body of the character into one of them and "inflate" it in the animation and the dress will fit the body , there are a couple of tutorials about it on the forum.

Okay, after much grumbling and doubt, I've decided to get C-D...

Ahead of choosing WW / C-D / wait, I've gathered some interesting outfits from Renderosity, have ear-marked some stuff from old down-loads. Okay, they're not haute couture, at best they're fantasy / anime, but that suits the surreal tale I'm trying to visualise...

If I have any success --I've not yet found best characters for P4F & P4M-- I'll post some piccies.

Why don't you use Paypal at EI's shop? It works fine. And you should sign up for the newsletter overthere.usually it has a coupon code included. The amount deducted ranges between 10 - 15% normally. So you even get the licenses cheaper.

I have several CD Licenses (ok I won the first 10 licenses in a contest months ago) and I'm happy with the prog, especially since they added Head/Hand/Feet support aka it converts shoes nicely. In the end it saves a lot of money. One only needs to buy one outfit and convert to other figures instead of buying the same outfit for several figures. :yeah:

Slow Going.....
-----------------------------------
EI's C-D program and licences all 'phone home' at registration, so I had to install them and Poser-4 on this light-weight Browser-PC...

Put it this way-- Poser did not need the 'Large Memory' patch !!

Also, this Browser-PC is v-e-r-y _ s-l-o-w compared to the other's 3 GHz and interleaved RAM, and I can only work on one screen instead of the CAD-PC's two...

And, yes, Poser keeps trying to phone out, sending my paranoid fire-wall into hysterics...

Anyway, grumbles aside, I've unpacked and installed a couple of garments, begun experimenting...

First issue is that you *MUST* know which figure the original garment was meant to clad.
Okay, this is often obvious from the thumbnail, but a lot of old freebies just say 'Vicky' or 'V' without a #1, 2, 3 etc. Also, unsupported 'variants' such as 'Sassy' or 'Latexa' may cause problems as morphs do not transfer. Fortunately, the date is a fair clue, and doing quick conversions on low-quality setting should soon show which gets closest...

D'uh, why does no-one put REMs in their CR2 ??

I have not yet tried 'fixing' old P4F freebies directly or by conversion to eg P4M then back again as they are all on the other PC...

Second, poke-though corrections: I'm still learning.
I began with a modest A3 uniform --Not the Klingon Kit !!-- and coaxed it to fit Posette. I've beaten all the gaps except for two rib edges in lower back, will try the morphs next.
---

FIL is making good progress, is being chivvied by eager 'Physio-Terrorists', has sat out and is eating well. Only snag is they must taper his pain relief, so he will no longer be amused by hallucinations of a small black cat nimbly leaping from bin-lid to bed-frame to window-sill and back as he's falling asleep...

Weird...

So far, based on a dozen or so garments, mostly A3 to P4F...

1) Changing the poke-through settings makes no difference that I can see...

2) About half of the long gowns, skirts or robes are cut off at hip height...
( I've seen this happen when modelling program re-writes OBJ in different order... )

3) Shoes confuse it...

Um, how do I stop Poser_4 trying to phone home every couple of minutes ?? I've renamed the directory with the web-links, but it still tries to dial out...

MD&AD01 Set Converted To Posette
-----------------------------------
Okay, I cleaned out all my earlier experiments and began again. These are medium quality conversions of Taruru's neat AD&MD 01 Set. I had to push socks', then shoes' poke-through settings to ~0.35 to fix heels of socks, then sides of shoe, but shirt & skirt worked on default. Wig is P4 'curly woman', briefs are P4 bikini bottom.

Couple of thoughts...

Killing a holey RSR means closing Poser, zapping the RSR, re-opening Poser, setting up figure & costume again. This really, really slows work-cycle, so I'm going to suggest a 0~~9 incremental counter.

Current C-D 2.7 has no specific morph for feet. IMHO, it should.

I could have made shoes and socks fit much closer if I ignored the small poke-throughs in socks' heels...

MayaDoll...
-----------------------------------
HI, I've been CD-ing the Amine-ish MD Basic clothing set, with mixed results...

Most of the items convert for Posette using CD defaults, although the waspie needed a LOT of tweaking at the lower hem. The half-gloves *will not* convert, as MD's fingers are anatomically absurd. The neat pumps did not scale or conform correctly, but I may take another look at them later. Again, the long socks had 'heel holes', but a snug fit on legs meant accepting a couple of small holes hidden by boots or shoes...

Perhaps piccy later...

More MayaDoll Stuff...
-----------------------------------
To my surprise, a lot more MD stuff has converted well, including a very retro pair of platform boots from Rie 'race queen' costume...

Finishing Maya/Anime Doll Freebies, Moving To Aiko...
-----------------------------------
I've almost worked through my collection of MD/AD freebies using C-D.

Like the old saw about 'Dancing Bears', the wonder is that programs such as WW or C-D work at all, never mind so well !!

Gloves, some shoes, several dresses will NOT convert for Posette. A few items' re-grouping leaves zig-zag seams or features, leaving them un-sightly if textured.

Many AD freebies come as a PZ3 that cannot open without the commercial AD character installed. Other AD PZ3 files allow saving of a garment, but their resulting CR2 contains a 'string reference' instead of a 'hard' location for OBJ, so defy conversion. There are free 'mesh ripper' utilities on eg Renderosity, but they would be a last resort.

Against that, many MD/AD garments were easily converted, with excellent fit, often using default C-D settings. Some tops required slight tweaking using C-D's generic, under-arm and/or upper-side poke-through fixers. Several garments had problems on the pelvis, a few requiring *heroic* tweaks to clear...

I've now begun converting Aiko items. I deleted my original experiments as I now understand C-D better, and must arrange converted files more systematically.

A big problem with A3 is 'body morphs'. C-D cannot cope with garments tailored to a much-morphed character: Technically, it becomes a different character, requiring a new conversion matrix. I discovered this when trying to convert a smart ChrisT item, the red 'coke bottle' corset. After a dozen exasperating iterations, I went back to C-D's default settings and morphed the result using Poser's XYZ dials. Although obviously 'off the peg' rather than bespoke, this now fits the default Posette...

After filling Posette's wardrobe with MD styles, I only need a few Anime-ish Aiko items before tackling some classic V1/V2 garments.

Then I'll switch to converting Medieval-ish garb again. I have not tried adapting any more robes for P4M since my first attempts lost either the complete hip region, or everything below it. This may be a bug in C-D, a problem with P4, an artifact of Gloria Ghast's notoriously quirky old meshes or some combination. I'll need to do a lot more experimenting to spot a pattern. It may just require re-aligning either the original or C-D's output OBJ by opening / re-saving with UV-Unwrapper...

Um, would anyone mind if I posted a few low-res piccies with 'before and after' ?? I am not striving for photo-realism, just assembling enough costumes to visualise key scenes in several surreal short stories...

Hi, I've just about finished converting Aiko3 items. A short, black 'goth' jacket took longest, as it was prone to poke-through by anything Posette might wear underneath. I had the choice of making it 'blouson' and baggy, or leaving it limited but severe. Finally, I comprimised, accepted it would not cover loose-sleeved tops, made sure it would match the rest.

Anyway, here's a classic mix & match: An Aiko3 'babydoll' top, plus a formal MayaDoll skirt: As Posette said, 'I SHALL go to the Ball.'

 Yep, keep up the good works friends. The conversions looks very good and I think that with some postwork, with the Poser 7 brush tool or exporting the parts in blender those clothes will come out perfect :thumb: . I'm also experimenting, mainly with the Dork (Pitklad's Domus) , with him I've no problems because I use the basic body with no morphs. The converted dresses are good with posette too, even if I can use them easily only with Angela , Posy is a bit too shapely and the dresses need a lot of postwork, i tend to use dynamic dresses with her :heartbeat:

BTW we're lucky that this program exists, even if it's commercial  , because with it our posettes and Dorks will live forever for sure

Something Rather Different...
-----------------------------------
Here's two completely different outfits, though with same mega-hair...

Yes, one's a classic Marks' ball-gown, the V_evening dress. I'm posting it between C_D re-runs, as each iteration of the 9.2 Mb OBJ to zap a remaining tiny poke-through takes ~20 mins on this underpowered Browser_PC...

The other is the notorious PVC bustier for Vicky, paired with MayaDoll platform boots...

Marks' Glorianna...
-----------------------------------
Didn't have much time tonight, but managed to convert Serge Marks' Glorianna for V_3?...

Biggest problem was the neck ruff's flare...

I had to tell C-D to use 'head' option in conversion, plus a generous poke-through allowance there to ensure the ruff cleared Posette's throat and chin. I've not posted a piccy because I thing I've over-done the margin, must check historical piccies and perhaps re-work for closer fit to face...

Couple more conforming Vx garments to go tomorrow, then I'm going to sweep up some 'misc' footwear.

Hi, google has found a lot of elizabethan-style ruffs, collars, etc, but nothing definitive...

Okay, here's what I had. Um, very tricky to see ruff / collar in original render, so I turned down the transparencies for the close-ups. Finally, Posette stepping out as 'The Red Queen'. Sorry, all the really good hair-dos and wigs are on the CAD_PC. Anyway, 'big hair' would hide the ruff...

Footwear For Posette...
-----------------------------------
I've now worked my way through a closet full of potential footwear for Posette...

C-D cannot convert smart props, so all the PP2 items were discarded. The conforming footwear had a zoo of problems. Some 'conformed' to positions far away from target feet, would not behave. Others just fell apart when converted, with visible holes, or seams left gaping. Several needed a different foot arch to Posette's, so poked through sole unless inflated to absurd 'green welly' proportions. Two or three or were sized for morphs with narrow and/or thin feet...

Up to now, I have only accepted clothing that truly conformed, not requiring 'hiding' of body-parts. I've had to make a waiver for boots and shoes...

I did find some unexpected items that conformed perfectly. The one-piece 'V4 Pants & Boots' gets an honorable mention for this, as seen in piccy below...

I now have 34 converted items, of which only nine (9) need toes or feet hiding. I'll probably add a few more before posting the table...

Anyway, here's a few piccies from the club scene....

Almost Too Silly For Words...

I'd spent a frustrating hour trying to get the 'Mega-hair' used on earlier piccy to render as the matching shade of pink...

Then I noticed that bizarre V4 headwear while trawling Renderosity for quirky hoods, cowls, Mohican crests etc, ran it through C-D as a joke. Although the mask conformed perfectly, the (inflatable ??) horns' mesh broke midway along the span. So I XYZ scaled the original and *parented* it to Posette's head...

To counterpoint the surrealism, I'll post some piccies of more mundane outfits...

The cute Sadie Hoodie outfit is briefs, skirt, shirt, hair, hoodie and leg-warmers. To my surprise, everything but the briefs converted...

( Okay, there were a few poke-throughs under arm, at wrist and top of back, but they yielded to C-D's tweaks...)

FWIW, the author left his T: directory structure in the CR2s, but C-D allows a manual browse for missing OBJ files, and each converted CR2 correctly links to a re-written OBJ...

An AnimeDoll Conversion And A Forgotten ISOP...
-----------------------------------
The 'mermaid dress' began as an AnimeDoll freebie, aka 'Neo-VictorianAD'. Remarkably, it converted easily. Yes, there were minor poke-throughs around neck and under arms, but they only took a few iterations...

I had to grab Animotions' SML gloves to complete the outfit: Sadly, that meant hiding hands & fore-arms, tapering upper arms "-1%" etc...

The ISOP 'Nurse for V2' had been lurking, forgotten, in my archives. I had dreadful problems with the socks, as they poked through at heel and edge of foot. Fixing those made the socks poke through the sandals' straps. I thought to try with other C-D'd stockings, kept making the sandals bigger and bigger. As the 'total' poke-through correction rose, I was able to reduce the ankle correction, so the strap did not overhang too far...

Eventually, I renamed a copy of original CR2 and made two fittings, for snug and 'fluffy' socks...

Ghastley Situation...
-----------------------------------
I've long chuckled at Ghastley's irreverent Pfil & Pamila (aka the Sara fairies), but their outfits and accessories never quite scaled to Posette. Well, they put up another fight tonight but, with much patience and *many* iterations, C-D triumphed...

And I learned another quirk of C-D: Seems I've got a large and growing 'influence file', which will allow rapid re-work of any of the meshes I've processed with C-D. Downside is that it *remembers* the OBJ files it has seen. Eventually, of course, I got two the same. Instead of Pfil's cute mini-dress, C-D kept delivering a long, asymmetric gown...

At first I thought the mesh was a long dress with parts masked out, but no-- Checking the OBJ with 3DOC found a minidress. Then I remembered the design looked familiar. Scrolling through the hundreds of conversions, I found it matched an AD/MD item...

Cure was to change Pfil's dress' OBJ name, edit the CR2 with CR2-Edit (1.51) and try again...

FWIW, Pfil & Pamila are such skinny critters that I needed to set heroic poke-through parameters, but I think the result speaks for itself...

Sometimes C-D Surprises...
-----------------------------------
The Princess Koshini freebie had top and skirt OBJ & CR2, plus an immense PZ3...

CR2 Edit showed the PZ3 was full of references to hair, gloves, textures and MAT poses that would not apply to Posette. I had hopes of the top and skirt. Fortunately, I checked the paths, found their OBJ was placed with CR2 in 'Characters'. I re-routed them to Geometries, set C-D loose. To my surprise, both converted as-is in remarkably few seconds...

Though The Sky May Fall...
-----------------------------------
I did not expect the wild V3 FURY outfit to convert well. Good news, I solved the ReadMe's P4 issue with the head-spikes-- Parent, don't conform. Bad news, trying to fix the Hipsters' poke-through causes an ugly, unwearable snarl in the 'armpit'...

But the boots...

{FX: THE BOOTS !! THE BOOTS !!! :shocked!: }

Well, yes, they convert, but only to the default form. All those bizarre morphs are lost. And, almost as standard with high-heeled boots, you must hide Posette's feet and toes...

'Temple Ruins' kit is a freebie from Renderosity. This scene is included as a PZ3 for ease of set-up. Conforming corset and gorget prop were also Renderosity freebies, the former via C-D, the latter --IIRC-- from a Vx Witch costume.

Wish List...
-----------------------------------
I've almost finished converting my collection of Others' conforming freebies to suit Posette. With failures deleted, my !Converted Geometries has 234 'successful' OBJ files and I'm running out of 'different' items. I do have more Zips to try, but most are 'me too' styles, impractical swimwear, 'dynamic' garments, 'smart props' or for figures C-D (v2.7) does not yet support, such as Ms Kururu or Chibibel...

If you see a freebie that may suit Posette, let me know and I'll give it a try. I'll probably have it in my archive, but an open URL would help...

Meantime, I'll experiment with converting ill-fitting P4F clothing, then start on wardrobe for Joe Dork aka P4M...

"Devilicious For V3" For Posette...
-----------------------------------
A glance through my recent archives found a grab-bag of items I'd missed.

Remarkably, the Devilicious_V3 boots only needed an ankle poke-through fixing. That was fortunate, as they took 29 minutes to process first time, five minutes for each re-work. The corset only took 20 mins first pass, but needed heroic corrections to solve the terrible poke-throughs across abdomen...

Re: Wardrobe Wizard Vs Cross-Dresser...
-----------------------------------
Hi !

In addition to a full-body, over-all poke-through correction 'dial', C-D has a bunch of 'dials' for local tweaks.

Then, you re-run conversion, see how it looks...

( If you have eg P_4 which uses Geom RSR, remember to shut down Poser and zap previous RSR for each and every iteration. Remember to empty the recycle bin from time to time...)

The C-D 'dial' system is patchy, and you must guess how much of a correction to apply, adjusting local values while backing off or adding any 'overall' expansion. Also, each release of C-D adds new 'dials'. The current version has very limited support for hands, head and feet. I still find the fact that C-D works at all, never mind so well, to be rather amazing. Not just 'Neat!', as I know just enough about 3D meshes and matrix math to appreciate the issues. Then C-D *re-groups* the modified mesh...

Wardrobe Wizard Vs Cross-Dresser...
-----------------------------------
Hi ! I'm no Poser expert, so can only give my limited experience...

Although I have the highest regard for PhilC as modeller & coder, I went for C-D. Couple of reasons for this...

I'm no Artist. I'm using Poser to help visualise scenes in a story I'm writing, not illustrate it. I do NOT want photo-realism or HD renders, so the high-polygon DAZ folk are over-kill.

C-D and W-W have complementary pricing systems. With PhilC's WW, your fee buys a code to transform conformers *from* a specific character. C-D sells code to transform conformers *to* a specific character.

Models must be freebies. I have a large archive of zips accumulated during my previous venture into Poser, back in 2003/2004, and I'm a regular Renderosity browser. I have not signed up to any subscription sites.

I'm still running P_4 as I found P_7 too complex.

As both C-D and W-W codes rely on 'phone-home' security checks, the version of Poser would have to live on this cut-down, paranoid-firewalled Browser_PC rather than my free-standing 3Gb/3GHz AMD64 CAD_PC. That meant I had to install my old P_4 as my new P_7 just would not fit...

So, I only need clothes to fit P4F & P4M.

Given all that, I went for C-D....
---

IMHO, C-D is still evolving rapidly. Support for hands, head and feet have just been added, so conforming socks, shoes & boots, hats, hoods & helmets are convertible. But, without more 'dials' in those regions, the results are hit & miss at best.

IMHO, footwear conversion needs both heel-bulge and foot-width dials. I doubt gloves will ever convert well...

I'm not happy with footwear that relies on hiding body-parts, but there is a limited range of true conformers beyond basic, utilitarian styles. As with long gloves, there's no real choice....

Thoughts ??

Re: Wardrobe Wizard Vs Cross-Dresser...

Your reasoning is clear Nik :thumb: and you're making a good work, I got some nice suggestions looking at some of the "pieces" converted. Boots and shoes don't convert well, you should play with the joint editor, but shoes are easy to dress on Posette, you've simply to parent them to the leg. If the character consists of both /shoes/boots just hide one or edit the CR2 , move it and parent to Posette's leg, do the same with the second one and it's done, for the final Pose it's not a big problem and you've the morphs working :D

P4M Issues-- It's All In The, Um, Genes...
-----------------------------------
When I started using C-D, I tried converting some Medieval-ish items to P4M. Although tops and foot-wear converted as well as expected, each robe-type garment had a large gap at the hip region. I tried several files, checked their OBJ, checked CR2 paths etc etc. C-D could not understand why I should get this problem, requested examples and the debug file.

Well, I finally got around to it. I started a new C-D session, converted some simple files I'd checked could be found among the Renderosity freebies. Yes, the problem recurred.

I was about to bundle the piccies and debug file for e-mailing when inspiration struck...

I selected P_4's option to have gens ON: The garment's gap filled.

Only problem now, of course was a most unfortunate poke-through...
---

Anyway, I re-wrote my covering e-mail, sent off the info to C-D with my curious diagnosis. I have no idea what they can do about it, but I'd be happy to buy a separate license-code for a 'modest' P4M...

Plan B......
-----------------------------------
Tormie, I won't speculate on how C-D team came to forget your experience...

Never mind, I have a Plan B: When I went looking in the Hierarchy Tree, P4M *does* have a BodyPart {gens} visibility box which does not invoke Geometries switch. To prevent domestic distress and, um, giggles, I'll now have to be more careful what I set as 'StartUp Preferences'.

D'uh...

Now I've resolved that issue, I can search for garments which might retain a Medieval-ish / Fantasy style when re-cut for Joe-D...

Well, tonight, for the first time, I managed to coax the complex 'leotard' prop to near conformity. Then I started wondering...

The tail and wing props, also the texture, are from an Aiko3 Q-Bee freebie. Gloves were among sets C-D'd from Maya Doll. Hair from Ghastley's Pfil fairy. Segmented boots are probably a Vx...

Shadowerks' 'Mirror, Mirror' Star Trek Uniform...
-----------------------------------
This is Shadowerks' classic take on the uniform for the 'Mirror, Mirror' episode of Star Trek.

Originally for V1/V2, it converted well to Posette with C-D. Those tall boots ran first time but, of course, needed feet & toes hiding. The arm-bands' slight poke-through took one iteration to fix. Wrist-bands were smart-propped to V1/V2, so required some scaling and re-positioning. I ran out of time to locate a suitable raygun...

PickersAngel's Retro Sara...
-----------------------------------
Roberta Hickman, a.k.a. PickersAngel did this Retro style dress, heels, hat, belt and purse for DarkWhisper's Sara, back in 2005.

Dress converted first time with C-D, belt took some tweaks to clear poke-throughs. The shoes just needed toes hiding. The purse prop would not stay in Posette's grasp without some finger-wiggling. I re-used the Pfil-hair prop from Ghastley's fairies, scaled Sara's hat slightly to suit...

Cute, or what ??

Another Sara Conversion...
-----------------------------------
I had a few problems with 'Sara Croft'...

The top and shorts are a simple, one-piece 'leotard', but had a big poke-through on waist-band. Clearing that forced me to widen the gun-belt to get a clean fit. Also, the tiny back-pack's straps snagged on the shirt shoulders, needing several iterations. Boots looked okay as default, but had a poke-through under sole. Enlarging boot caused a mesh-break at the ankle, but increasing the C-D ankle correction fixed that.

The 'Sara Croft' hair lacked xyz dials, would not conform as-is. C-D'd, it looked very odd. I had to dig out ?Crowfoot 'Ponytail' hair from Renderosity and scale that...

The guns...
Um, I'd had enough of re-parenting props for one night, left them off...

Anyway, I'd found a bigger gun for 'LC', and a worthy target. I had dreadful problems building the set from freebies as this Browser-PC just ran out of RAM and MHz. The only way I could work in 'real time' was to hide most elements with the Hierarchy editor, then work in 'shaded' mode with 'fast tracking'...

Results are going in the gallery.

Near Me...
-----------------------------------
Still collecting Anime-ish outfits, I swept up a couple for the impossibly cute 'NearMe'.

Shirt and shorts C-D'd okay, but the shoes came through as big as galoshes...

Never mind !!

Ah, yes, before you ask...

I made another three layers for the gym equipment by X-scaling the 'vaulter' / 'jumping boxes' supplied with costume. Setting 'no texture' hid the numbers. You *can* scale or hide the layers independently, but scaling the lowest of group scales the others automatically...

And that is the 'child hair' from Poser_4. Though scaled and parented to Posette's head, it would *not* stay attached when I tried the P_4 gym poses...

D'uh...
Once upon a time, when I was just a little kiddy, I refused to attempt the 'vaulter' at school because I thought it unsafe. IMHO, the ancient crash-mat was too thin and in the wrong place. IMHO, the bench-level was far too high. Ooh, was I in *deep* trouble, called Wimp, softy, coward and much, much worse. Finally, when threats and insults alike all failed, I was pushed aside and the next kid ordered up. He snagged the too-high bench, fell skew, missed the catcher and knocked himself out on the barely padded floor. Game called due ambulance...

Posette knew how to make a grand entrance at the exclusive Pink Dodo Club...
---

This is a C-D conversion of conforming, rather than hybrid version of Arien-SkyeWolf's stunning Aiko-Eve dress. It is such a close fit that I had to be very careful tweaking the under-bust and waist-line poke-throughs lest it become baggy...

Hair is the 'layered' Aiko RQ again but, this time, I found a recipe to match the dress colour. Gloves are Animotions'. Sadly, they require forearms & hands hiding...

Interlude...
-----------------------------------
There will now be a short interlude while I collate my latest gleanings. A lot are 'me-too' variants of familiar styles, but fits differ and they're worth checking just for that.

Also, there's my spreadsheet with C-D tolerant footwear. I've not updated that in a while, I should re-work it with links...

Although I have some unconverted eye-candy such as Specs2 or PhilC's A3Horsey, Naga, Medusa, Leia, Genie, Oola etc, I don't feel inspired. If you have a favourite, I'll give it a try with C-D...

I need to spend several days experimenting with leg-fits to P4M: So far, any conversion that crosses his ankle line *breaks* at the front. I've seen the same effect with P4F when I've greatly increased C-D's 'all-over' poke-through correction without expanding ankle fix, wonder if this offers a clue...

And I should fire up my CAD_PC to see if there are any interesting files in its archives that did not survive this Browser_PC's crashes and rebuilds...

FWIW, a bunch of Renderosity freebie site-links went down after 1st April, probably because owners failed to renew hosting agreements...

A Valkerie...
-----------------------------------
While rummaging in obscure corners of my PCs' archives, I found another stash of old files...

As far as I know, the specs2 "Valkerie (sic) for V1/V2" set has dropped off the wwweb. Certainly Renderosity don't have it any more...

Boots converted first time, suit took a little tweaking at the back. The half-gloves-- Um, I think C-D algorithm does not like fore-arms, as they came out crinkly, corrugated as an old tin roof. Unfortunately, they wrinkled inwards as much as out, took heroic tweaking to beat the wrists' poke-through...

I could not find a hair-style to match the thumbnail, so used mega-hair...

The terrain is the same sloping base as the temple in 'Incursion', but scaled and tilted.

Another RQ...
-----------------------------------
This costume is Teppan's RQ for MayaDoll, which the read-me says is similar to 2002-03 JGTC TEAM B-1 "GO GO QUEENS". For a change, Posette has curly Katsaro hair...

Top and skirt converted easily, the leg-warmers needing some ankle expansion. Those platform sandals were smart-propped to Maya, which caused a lot of problems. Took me an hour to scale and otherwise coax them to fit Posette, but I could not get the 'smart prop' feature to behave. Finally, I persuaded them to just appear on floor ready to wear. Then I only had to y-offset Posette to 0.043, tilt her feet / toes 15 degrees, parent each silly sandal to the correct foot...

D'uh...

Under A Lowering Sky......
-----------------------------------
Here's another gem from the archives.

Toshiyo aka Poism did this simple Pirate costume for MayaDoll. To my surprise, the skull-bra, knee-breeches and boots all converted first time with C-D. Yes, folks, even the sea-boots conformed, without a poke-through in the pack...

Well, what could I do ?? I'd seen a raft on Renderosity, re-used the Hys temple terrain --turned level-- for near-field ripples, used an 'Ocean' piccy at hi-res for back-drop and lo-res as terrain texture. The 'cabin' drum and sea-chest are Poser primitives with raft textures hastily applied...

I was going to add a giant squid, but this Browser_PC had begun to gasp and wheeze at the polygon count...

Sorry, Posy, the hardest part is often deducing which figure 'owns' an undocumented garment...

I only have P_4 and MayaDoll installed on this cut-down Browser_PC, so must try them, then make an educated guess based on neck-line spill-over and file age...

Teppan RQ Set...
-----------------------------------
Teppan aka T-Limited made a succession of beautiful costumes, often detailed down to the hems and zip-tags, yet with modest file sizes...

Unfortunately, he did not put a 'read me' in his early freebies, kept changing both his preferred figure and figure morphs...

Anyway, I'd found a cache of RQ costumes, spent a while trying to identify the original character. By a process of elimination, all eight turned out to be for 'Millie' aka Vicky 1/2...

I tried converting the gloves but, of course, they curled into a useless snarl. The pumps, white sandals, red sandals and wrapped 'booties' all conformed well, needing only minor poke-throughs correcting. The three dresses needed slight upper-side tweaks, the neck-rings required C-D's 'head, hands, feet' option on to correct taper.

Ironically, after converting and posing the costumes, I found Teppan's home-page. His gallery of renders was annotated with base-figure, hair style, morphs etc...

Xena's Wicked Womyn...
-----------------------------------
Tonight, our very own 'Fab Four' model the S1 & S2 sets from Xena of 'Wicked Womyn', crafted back in mid 2002.

Originally cut for V1 / V2, the tops and straight skirt converted well, needing only modest fixes for slight poke-throughs on upper side and/or around edge of ribs. The frilly skirt fitted too well, needed overall enlargement to hide the snug thong...

The smart knee-boots from Set_1 required 'hide feet, toes'. Sadly, the stiletto ankle booties from Set_2 were cut too low for Posette, showed a gap when feet were hidden. I would have to scale / position / parent them, do not have the time. Instead, I textured the knee-boots to match...

Most PZ3 Kept...
-----------------------------------
Hi, Tormie !

I've kept the more complex scenes as PZ3 files so, if asked or inspired to do a better render, setting up will be easy...

Note that these conversions are not suitable for 'photo-real' close-ups, as 'artifacts' and air-space become visible. Also, the conversion process in C-D 2.7 is unable to handle fore-arms well, or hands at all. Of course, truly conforming gloves have always been a problem...

I've Started, So I'll Finish...
-----------------------------------
Okay, this Flower Posy, er, Power Floosie began as a Powerage Renderosity Mega-Freebie for V3.

D'uh, several of the garments were 10 Mb, needing ~35 min 'Influence' runs, their poke-throughs had poke-throughs, I spent three *long* sessions juggling parameters to keep as snug a fit as practicable...

Okay, trade-offs:

You cannot see the long, candy-stripe socks, but I had to leave their heel holes lest the boots swell to 'Freak' proportions, and the pants become 'Oxford Bags' or 'Zoots' to accomodate them. Pants are a bit bell-bottomed, but not so you'd notice...

The jacket...
That jacket took two entire evenings to fit, saw me emptying the 'waste bin' every hour, dumping a dozen deleted 10 Mb jacket geom RSR files each time. Still NOT a perfect cut, it is the best I could do...

I'm interested by new option that allows you to 'bond' broken seams, and the 'morph transfer' tool sounds powerful. They may resolve the problems I've had converting loose garments and P4M footwear. Support for Chichibel ? That should make a lot of youngsters happy, but I would have preferred Kururu, who has a growing Anime-ish wardrobe...

The shorts and vest are C-D'd Maya-Basic, those boots are the C-D'd Fury's (hide feet, toes), gloves are Animotions (hide fore-arms & hands, taper -1), mask prop is 'Masque', no readme, and hair is Krazy Kurlzs for Aiko3 "Funky toony hair with separate bangs" by Realmling, WorldOfSavage...

Aaargh......
-----------------------------------
I've had C-D'd garments split, but the specs2 Empress Dress with feather collar is the first to go mad when re-grouped...

Sadly, the high-rise row of feathers becomes divided into neck, left and right collar sections, so that the fan shreds when Posette moves from zeroed position...

I've checked, the original does not suffer thus. Of course, it does not fit Posette, and 'conforming' causes an explosion...

The only way to fix it may be to cut off the feathers and make a smart prop with them...

I don't have time to muck about with that so, unfortunately, this costume may be a loss...

Save trimmed document as a text file named GARMENT

Close Wordpad, as it lacks 'all files' save option.

Open GARMENT text-file with Notepad.

Save with 'all files' selected as GARMENT.cr2

Now the file appears as a 'real' CR2, readable by CR2Edit and Poser_4.

Then I ran them through C-D, which also re-wrote their OBJ from 'Characters' into 'Geometries' directory and corrected their CR2 pointers.

Networking For The Terrified...
-----------------------------------
Non-trivial conversions and the upgrade from C-D 2.7 to _3 are on hold while I struggle with local networking.

Least painful route seems to be Internet Connection Sharing (ICS), routeing my previously stand-alone CAD_PC via this Browser_PC. Unfortunately, my ICS documentation expects either dial-up or twin Ethernet ports on Browser_PC mobo. I've one (1) ethernet port on mobo, dedicated to the broadband cable modem...

Inexpensive fix, of course, was to go off-line and drop in a PCI network card. Having that pop up as 'Port #3' was a bit un-nerving, suggests mobo must have an un-used #2 'riser' somewhere. ( Was I/O used for USB ?) Still, I've now got a genuine, fully documented 'Sitecom' 10/100/1000 gigabit port to play with, together with a cross-over cable...

Next, I must line up the Sitecom card's booklet, plus a Campbell/Edney 'How To Set Up Your Home or Small Business Network', the obligatory 'Home Networking For Dummies', the optimistic 'Wireless Networking For Dummies', several one-page 'get networked in an hour' recipes and umpteen Windows' help pages, see if they match...

What I have done with C-D 2.7 is delete six (6) gigabytes of influence files. Though many files were small, there were some *monsters*. IIRC, the 'period' Ball Gowns contributed hundreds of megabytes apiece. Browser_PC now runs significantly faster...

I'll probably add a few more funny 'Big Bad Bugs' and 'C-D' piccies as therapy while I wrangle the network. Also, I've stumbled across some, um, bizarre Renderosity freebies. I don't think they were 'misfiled', not quite, but the lack of a 'Misc' section probably contributed. A wriggling 'Jello' blob gave me *half* an idea for another 'Darkside' piccy: I'll have to let it ferment a-while...

Um, this did not begin as a Jack-in-Box, my first notion was headed for the 'Big Bad Bugs' thread...

Okay, Box, hat, collar and corrugated whatsit are from Eric Saltel's BIG archive. Pom-poms are from an old Penny Cheerleader kit by 'I. Newton'. I ran the kit's PP2 through John Hoagland's GeomStripper, just kept the cat toy. Leotard and sleeves are Taruru's SDR set for Vicky 1 or 2, previously re-worked with C-D. I tested several tutus, best for this was 'The Freak's', re-scaled and re-coloured. Oh, and yes, the red-nose is a standard poser-prop ball...

Flying Tonight !!

Hey !! You shouldn't be Airside !!

I found an obscure Japanese site with some costumes from an anime series. The ReadMes are mostly in Japanese, but one had P4F in plain-text so I started with that...

Okay, this 'Yuki' costume was intended to fit one of Posette's skinny Oriental cousins. I had to hide feet, shins, fore-arms to get a quick fit. I may yet run costume through C-D to 'normalise' it...

Doom Helmet is fresh from Renderosity freebies, the gloves were previously C-D'd from an RQ costume. The aircraft is an 'Orca' from Eric Saltel's BIG archive. It was my third choice, though. The quad-fan air-cars had either a problem with alternating normals, or too few groups. A scary Wasp craft's mesh had missiles outside the pods, in a format this Browser_PC's 3D utilities could not fix...

If I have time tomorrow, I'll try to run the ReadMes through Google languages, and investigate the two PlugSuit fits...

That 70's Feeling...
-----------------------------------
I found a collection of costumes for 'TenTen', a Japanese MilGirl variant, ran them through C-D. Silly boots fit perfectly. Socks' heels poke slightly, the bag conformed to the costume, but needed a z-scale tweak to clear the braces. Those were on their thumbnail, but not in the run-time. I tracked down a replacement among my other freebies. Unfortunately, they did not conform to the 'hip' look, are precariously parented...

Influence Files...
-----------------------------------
Hi, the newly released C-D 3.x may calculate faster, but it will still generate HUGE influence files. Think of them as full-body morph targets. You need to keep them while you are tweaking a set, perhaps longer if you hope to 'mix and match' costumes. Problem is they accumulate in the C-D program's sub-directory. I was only working at MEDIUM resolution on modest-sized CR2 / OBJ meshes, but I had ~ 6 Gb of influence files before I culled them. As I'm working on this cut-down Browser_PC until I can network my newer CAD_PC to let C-D licences 'phone home', that 6Gb was most of the available disk space..
---

Um, I was a bit concerned about several rather raunchy TenTen costumes, considering they were for a MilGirl variant. Seems TenTen's figure is considered '18~~20' in Japan, so safely 'Young Adult'.

Hi ! I said I'd call in !!

Posette was very proud of her new, Ferrari-red sky-bike.
---

Costume is the Plugsuit002 and Rei hair from the same set as 'Yuki'. Unfortunately, suit is meant for a very skinny P4F variant, so would not run through C-D. I had to hide hands, feet and legs, taper the collar etc etc. The hair is scaled to match. Aircraft is 'Ships & boats 14' from Eric Saltel's BIG archive.

This is BAT's PT suit & skirt, knee-socks and pumps, run through C-D. I had to hide P4F's and socks' toes to fix poke-through. The PT suit required several iterations to fit across the bust, would look angular in close-up. Hair is Mylochka's classic Angela 'up-do with trimmings'.

I'll not post any piccy for Bat's PT KAWA and PT Pumpkin outfits unless I can find a way to make them 'decent'...

Hitting The Red Carpet...

Posette knew how to make the Monday Morning Society pages...

---
This began as the Bat / Yamato MK set for An-An, Yamato's skinny morph of P5's Judy. I had dire problems converting for P4F, needed many iterations of the top and jacket to make them conform. This is the first time I've needed a fix-morph of 6.00 (six), but a heroic setting for 'middle back down' was necessary to cover the lower ribs. D'uh, I worked my way up from 0.15 to 0.85, but nothing seemed to change. If other parts had not responded to their tweaks, I would have been convinced I had a duplicated OBJ. Puzzled, I tried 2, then 5, finally made progress. Other parts of back and sides only needed 0.4 ~~ 1.0...

Those boots belong to another Bat set for An-An, needed some tweaking of C-D thighs & calves and, yes, hiding the wearer's feet and toes. I ran out of time to do more than un-roll the red carpet...

Kirwyn's SciFi Suit For V4...
-----------------------------------
A Renderosity freebie, Kirwyn's SciFi Suit for V4 converted quite well.

The costume is all in one piece, precluding easy 'mix & match'. After a dozen minutes initial processing on this slow Browser_PC, boots and body fitted by default, while the helmet needed a tweak to hide ears. As usual, the gloves put up a bitter fight. I had to re-work them repeatedly until I had a large correction on fore-arms, a larger correction on wrists to minimise poke-through. The thumb-loop is still not quite right.

Also, the laser beams are not part of suit, but seperate props. They only had 'beam length' dials, so could not be re-positioned and re-parented to Posette. Yes, I tried shifting their origin. I replaced them with basic 'Prop Type' cylinders, but did not get the parenting quite right, as they shift about slightly when hands twist...

Sadly, the converted 'boots' snarl when the knees are bent, which accounts for the stiff posture. I'm not prepared to hunt down and fix their joint parameters...

The wall panels are from 3D Millenium freebies, scaled to 150% of Posette's height at import, then x-scaled 200%. Although they have 4 materials, I left them as metallic grey default.

Lighting the set was a problem. I wanted the impact flare to be luminous, so tried putting a spot-lamp inside the tommy-gun flash, behind, in front, anywhere. Being P_4, I always got shadows in the wrong places. The illumination is not quite right, I may experiment...

There's a piccy in 'Big Bad Bugs' series, "Don't Cross The Beams", with a rear view of suit.

I was browsing the Renderosity freebies when I noticed some 'body textures' for Shukky's BCO2 gynoid. I'd seen that cute 'bot' before, but the texture info mentioned that BCO2 took Aiko3 clothes...

Aha !!

Half an hour later, C-D was done converting-- Lo ! We had a genuine Posette-bot !!

A caution: The default conversion is sized as if wearing underclothes, eg Bikini top & bottom, plus a wide waist-band or cummerbund. This limits 'off the peg' clothes to 'loose' unless re-worked / adjusted after conforming.

Chibel-Miku.....
-----------------------------------
Posette's CosPlay debut as Hatsune Miku did not go well...
...

For a start, C-D 2.7 does not support the Chibel-Miku's bundled Chibilbel (sp?), so I had to improvise and parent, rather than conform...

Yes, those are the converted AD lace-up boots in place of the set's. The miniskirt barely fitted when scaled to 125%, but matched some Aiko-derived briefs. The set's shirt was cut for a boy-flat pre-teen, so I substituted an 'anime' sailor-shirt. I scaled the tie for best fit. Arm-tubes were problematic, hence the stiff pose. The hair was scaled bodily to prevent snarls, then sections of 'tail' tilted and scaled to clear Posette's arms, to reach her boot-tops...

Box art was found with google, is (c) product.

Finger Trouble...
-----------------------------------
Remember I used C-D to make Vicky1 RR into a Posette mannequin ?? Well, I managed to lose the converted file...

Of course, I only realised that after *twice* fingertip-searching entire Runtime, then using XP's 'file search' by estimated conversion date to be sure, to be sure...

It must have happened several weeks ago, perhaps I deleted a !WIP character directory after aborting a file-move or copy...
And, of course, it was one of the very few times I did not save the project as a PZ3...

D'uh...

At least I still had the 6 Mb C-D influence file.
However, I'd *also* managed to delete the modified Vicky CR2 that pointed to the renamed 'RR' OBJ used. No problem: CR2Edit (v1.51) easily changed both pointers in a fresh copy of the V1 RR file.

With influence file available, C-D did not need a 20~~25 minutes conversion. It re-worked V1 RR in a dozen seconds...

Phew !!

And, I got daring-- I opened a copy of RR's texture file in Paint, clumsily air-brushed the blue 'sloggi' to smudgy skin. Okay, the result looks like a well-worn, flesh-coloured cat-suit, but I'm not complaining....

...
While searching my E: archive for a free version of Deep Exploration, I stumbled on another cache of Poser freebies. These thigh-high platform boots began as a HT3D freebie for V2 by hawktoey / crbennett. Their ReadMe says to hide 'covered' parts, but C-D defaults gave a perfect fit. No poke throughs. None. So, credit where due...

Long Bustier is Taruru's classic 'naughty'. Hood prop is part of a Chris Cox' Eroko set, scaled and parented. The Tentacle hair is Ajax' DAZ high-polygon freebie for V3/M3, but scaled and parented to Posette. Wings are Mike's Weird Wings for Vicky2, a freebie prop long vanished from Renderosity. Spiked collar is part of the infamous Devilicious set. Gloves are again Animotions' free 'SML Hero Gloves', with hands and fore-arms hid, glove upper-arms slightly tapered...

Top and shorts by Mochi, I'll post more from his two sets tomorrow. Soft boots by Tentman, hide feet and toes. Hair is again Akashi.

I ran out of time after unravelling the file-paths in a complex Shukky set. Unfortunately, several CR2s specified D: paths, others had folder names in Japanese, while some expected the OBJ in character library, although there was a well-placed Geometries folder. Needless to say, I was NOT amused...

I've been un-zipping some of the furniture I've downloaded from Eric Saltel's BIG archive or Archive3D.net.

They're a mixed bag...
Some have broken meshes, with parts misplaced. A 3D editor could fix them-- Perhaps later...
Some, with larger file sizes, seem to choke P_4. The import does not appear and half the Poser menus go gray...
Some only have one material, so need patient 'grouping' or 'unwrapping'.
A few have odd 'normals', so are grossly triangulated...

After trying furniture all evening, Posette finally tired...

Cross-Dresser V2.7 Vs V3...
-----------------------------------
Hi, Crimmy !

I have not upgraded to v3 as I'm still finding my way around v2.7. I only have licences for P4F & P4M, and I only run 'medium resolution' conversions. Happens they suit my modest needs...

There's a lot of fun Anime stuff available for Kururu, but that figure does not seem to have a C-D conversion matrix. Perhaps Kururu's author is reluctant to allow it ? Perhaps the body-shape 'does not compute' ?? I've had a couple of GG's earliest garments 'crash' C-D, so I know there are limits. FWIW, I know just enough about meshes, modelling and matrix math to be very amazed that C-D works at all, never mind so well...

Although this thread has become an almost-blog of my adventures with C-D, it is still 'WW vs C-D': Could you post some of your conversions, especially 'compare & contrast' ??

Here's my two cents :yeah:
I downloaded the demo of WW :mmmh:
So, I figured I take a test spin with what I had to work with. I won poser 4 on ebay :yeah: so I've been playing with every item I ever downloaded that never seemed to work in poser 3. :mmmh: I still got about 10 more disc to go through. :eh:
Now, WW seems pretty cool I took the tux and converted it to female, I'm sure all you have done it.
So, cool ! I just figure after it was done I could just hit conform to and that's that.
Well to my surprise after about a half-an hour of converting with WW. :lazy: and an hour or two conforming the tux to the lucy in poser  I was done :yeah:
So, any who. Is that what I have to look forward to if I buy it? or is it easier with the morphs (not available in demo)
Now, I'm not bitch'n about it, cause it worked. I just though it would fit without all the fiddle.

Re: Wardrobe Wizard Vs Cross-Dresser...

Hi, Maovin !

Couple of thoughts:

I only use the default P4F Posette, so do not have the problem of adjusting clothes *to* eg 'Buxom' proportions. I have struggled to convert freebies cut to suit morphed figures-- Adapting the ChrisC V3 Devilicious corset for Posette was a victory of patience over common sense...

If, like me, you began by converting very old, um, *Classic* freebies, you may have problems. With hindsight, a lot of those early models were not built, grouped or jointed 'correctly'. Many were P2/P3 props hacked to a rough fit, and conforming errors were multiplied by conversion. Typically, skirt / dress-hems 'break'. Even Gloria Gast's superb 'period' dresses suffered: I've had C-D 2 shrug and exit. Several Specs2 freebies 'explode' because 'fancy frills' are grouped with body-parts...

IMHO, tweaking conversions gets easier with practice. I've learned to estimate C-D 2.7 'poke-through fix' factors from a glance at the first pass. I've learned how to trade an 'all-over' fix against local fixes, when to try strong measures and, yes, when to shrug and abandon a conversion...

It is a learning curve, and there's sure to be some skid marks. Please, post some piccies for us to sympathise and/or applaud.

So, the pic below was what I've opened up. the top half seems a little off between the right and left. and believe it or not all dails are set to 0.000 I'm running WW again to see if it was something I did.
In the second pic I just posed everything to zero tux and body (no conformed to) so it works.

Shukky's A3 Akugirl For Posette...
-----------------------------------
"Now where did I leave my gloves ??"

Shukky's A3 AkuGirl presented a challenge due to some tricky poke-throughs. The base 'catsuit' needed large corrections on the fore-arms, hardly less on wrists and upper sides. The inside thighs 'leaked' at the crotch and mid-leg seams until tweaked. A few polygons on the abdomen required an 'all-over' tweak as nothing else seemed to work...

Unlike the 'workwear' which broke along inner leg, this garment converted okay.

I had to tweak the 'catsuit' ankles, so the boots needed similar ankle adjustment. The boots also required feet hiding...

That utility belt went through C-D and conformed !!

The 'bat-girl' helmet is a prop, so required YZ positioning and parenting to head. Unusually, the 'part wig' was a 'character'. That would never convert nor conform to Posette, so I positioned and parented original to head. The 'bat-girl' cape is also a 'character, I parented original to chest...

The gloves, of course, converted into a dreadful snarl...

My experience after reading Nik's topic
-----------------------------------

I planned to write an extensive tutorial about my last experience wit Xdresser but I know how I'm lazy  so I'll write a quick "how I used it making my last picture" thanks to Nik's experience.

This has been done using crossdresser 3.01 , the old licences work :D and the new version can transfer morphs too :thumb: , I used Poser 7 but I think that it can be done with version 5, for the smooth brush it is available only from version 6

- Called Posy :heartbeat: for a tap dance
- moved to frame 30
- In frame 1 I selected the body and right clicked on the morph dial table selecting "restore", it sets all the morphs to 0 and a standard pose, this feature is available only in the newest versions of Poser, for the old version disable the inverse kinematics, open the joint editor, restore the figure and set manually all the morphs to 0. Note that in frame 30 the figure should look normal with all the morphs set correctly
- The blouse that Posy is dressing is made for another character, so I used the crossdresser to convert it, then I uploaded it and conformed to Posette (Posy :heartbeat: is in frame 30 ). I noticed that the conversion was not perfect, infact part of the collar of the blouse went as "right and left collar and part as "neck", when I moved the figure the parts separated, and above all, I'm a fanatic of dynamic cloths, so
- I exported the blouse as an obj, saving the materials (not all nodes are saved when you export an obj, like the transparency)
- Reimported it and parented to the chest, deleted the converted blouse
- Now using the group editor of Poser I selected parts of the OBJ by the material and selected the "weld" option, so the parts that were divided in the collar glued together :D
- In frame 30 I set up the final pose for the picture
- I went to the cloth room and selected the blouse obj as the obj to use as a cloth, set the "self friction" on and raised up the parameter (or the collar will "cut" the rest of the dress), started the process
- Once done, in frame 30 I used the smooth brush tool of poser to correct the final result, for example in the "nipples" region, it is a sort of postwork
- For the skirt, it's a plain conversion and conformed figure, the "objects" added by the crossdresser for adjusting the pose are fantastic, I posed the skirt like it was swirling
- I tried the conversion on the shoes but it went out a mess, so I simply parented each one to Posy's ( :heartbeat: ) feet as usual and posed them manually
- Same thing for the hair, parented and scaled for P4woman
- I rendered the scene and passed to the postwork

Considerations:

With the feature of dynamic clothing mixed with the use of crossdresser the final result is very good, I used the crossdresser as the first step, it's is almost impossible for me to use it as a plain conformed figure because Posy's ( :heartbeat: ) shape would need hours and hours of works with magnets and/or smoothing brush or else, while I made it in minutes using the dynamic cloth feature. The skirt is more usable when conformed, especially if it is short, if it's long I would have used it as a dynamic cloth and added some "wind forces" to simulate the swirling .

For my personal way to make picture, crossdressing the cloths makes the work a lot easier: I have no more to scale down the body of the human figure and then "blow" it to frame 30 in order to make the cloth fit, but I can start with a default Posette, so the final result is better and more natural.

Like the entire thread, this is also a suggestion for the sinners here that are no more using Posettes for their picture preferring ugly clones :nono: ...

"Oooh, these are so stretchy !!"

Posette had found two lovely, stretch-lace leotards by Yamato for the Summer.
--

The 'BD' morph these were cut for must be anorexic, as there were many minor poke-throughs on Posette, plus gaping fore-arms. Close-fitting garments, lacy due transparency map, they would show sloppy fixes. I had to be careful. I edged up the fix-factors until the small gaps went, but could not fix the fore-arms in C-D without making them bulbous. Plan_B was adjusting 'taper' within Poser_4, 'memorising' and re-saving the garment. I copied over the .RSR piccy.

Note: Although the directory structure was correct, and there were a bunch of pretty MATposes bundled, the default GymLeo left Poser searching for a non-existent texture file. I realised it was the 'black' texture of three supplied, copied and re-named that...

FWIW, I uploaded these piccies via my NAS drives as a test...

Three nice garments...

The pants, shoes and top of "Beizu for Aiko3" converted first time, conformed well. Tiny quibble: C-D 'lost' one pixel behind each knee joint...

The lovely 'Marmaid Dress for P5F Judy' fits Posette like an opera glove. This render does not do justice to the delicate layering and detailing.

The timeless 'Kimono for WapiPu' fits so well but, as expected, those deep sleeves' joint parameters and grouping defied conversion. Sadly, sleeves break if bent. Perhaps C-D v3 may do a better job...

The fourth garment I down-loaded, for 'Awa', baffled me. I did not recognise the figure name. When loaded, the proportions were very odd, perhaps those of a giant 'bobble-head'...

Something More Casual...
-----------------------------------
This is the PoserWorld 'Sweetness Halter top & Skirt for SP3" by Steve Shanks, plus classic PixelArcana boots and Akashi hair.

The top needed slight tweaks at upper side and under bust, but the skirt was more problematic. Try as I might, it just looked *wrong*. I tried converting as-is, or as a 'skirt' with/out handles. It kept coming out the wrong shape. Finally I realised that the OBJ name must be duplicated in my C-D influence collection. I re-named the OBJ with a Sweet prefix, used CR2 Editor (1.51) to amend the CR2 and tried again...

Posette had fun trying some of the easier moves...
---

This was an interesting costume to convert, but the 'ReadMe' file concisely explained that loin-cloth and tails are separate characters to the base 'suit', require parenting.

First thing I did was save the parts separately.

The Suit and its carefully wound climbing rope converted first time. I was expecting the 'rope' --partly collar sections-- to snarl horribly, but it all survived. I'm impressed !!

The loincloth converted by default. I positioned it against the waist-band, re-parented to Posette's abdomen.

I did not dare convert the tails. I just positioned them at the back of the waist band, re-parented them to Posette's abdomen.

The mittens / fighting gloves had problems with crinkly wrists. Instead of arguing with C-D, I set their fore-arm tapers slightly negative (-0.001 ;-), told Poser_4 to 'memorize' them and re-saved. I kept their original thumbnail.

The 'booties' look like a perfect fit, but there are tiny poke-throughs in the duck-foot slot and at a 'low' spot on the side of one heel. Using the 'all-over' fix for poke-throughs in v2.7 left the booties loose-fitting. So, I ignored the tiny flaws. I could just hide feet & toes, but unless you knew exactly where to look for those errant pizels...

I topped off the costume with Ghastley's useful Sadie Hood, technically hair...

Seriously, these are Dayna2's fetish boots for V4, as seen on Renderosity freebies, with a members-only link to SeventhComplex. The ReadMe said to hide toes, feet & shins, but C-D blazed through the conversions in ~ 20 secs per boot and conformed the shins...

Hot-pants & top are MayaDoll basics, arm-bands a 'Vx' freebie, all previously converted. Matching Hood is again the Ghastley 'Sadie', which loads as hair.

Dayna's Pink Plastic & Fluff...
-----------------------------------
I tried to convert Dayna's 'PinkPlastic & Fluff for V3', but had problems. Politely put, the result will not conform beyond the 'zero' position: Tilting any part of garment un-conformed else-where...

This is unfortunate, as it looks an *interesting* garment.

If anyone can rescue it with a revised grouping or as dynamic garb, I'd like to see the results.

Indoda's Pants For V4...
-----------------------------------
Here's Indoda's neat high-waist pants for V4. The only problem with conversion was the need to include hands/feet to position the ankles' hem.

I've included original thumbnail to show the thin front straps as modesty required a blouse...
---

I tried converting the related Indoda leggings, but they were too close a fit to V4. I ran out of patience chasing persistent poke-throughs and gaping seams.

Some More From V4...
-----------------------------------
Okay, Posette's main garment is the Double Helix Dress for V4 by Paul J. Zanca. There were tiny poke-throughs on hip and under arm, but those only needed one iteration with C-D 2.7 fix morphs to clear. Per ReadMe, the complex geometry requires careful posing to avoid unsightly gaps.

That neat footwear is the Cc M Boots by Corinthians Gaddie aka corinthianscori. As with originals, hide feet and toes. I used foot bend of 16, but exact figure may depend on your setting. The heels look a bit odd, but may be modern fashion...

Hair is StudioMaya's RollHair2 for Vicky, slightly offset YZ then 'memorised' for Posette...

Yoko Set...

"Be quick with that camera, I think the 'SkinStick' is wearing off..."

Posette was not happy modelling the precarious Yoko Set.
---

This, as you may have guessed, is the Yoko Set by Corinthians Gaddie for V4.2. It converted first time, and very quickly. My only quibble was the Top's CR2 expected an OBJ named 'Yoko Top', not the supplied 'yokotop'. Fortunately, C-D fails soft, includes a browser...

Hair is MayaDoll's MDCH, Sandals were an Aiko item, previously converted.

Mint3D's 'Sakura Skater For V4/A4' For Posette.
-----------------------------------
"Steady... Steady..."

Posette knew that, like riding a bicycle, you never quite forgot how to skate...

The knee-pads helped.
---

Mint3D's 'Sakura Skater for V4/A4' is a lovely garment, repaid the time required to fix several small, but persistent poke-throughs.

Thanks to Mint3D's Mia who supplied a direct link, I was able to download the 25 Mb zip from their mirror server. The runtime unpacked to ~65 Mb. I selected V4 conversion, set to work with C-D 2.7...

The costume is high-polygon, with superb geometry plus detailed textures. It was a severe test for this minimal Browser_PC.

The first, slow pass with C-D gave mild poke-throughs under arms, but severe on the dress' inner bust. I iterated the area's morphs up to ~0.85 before the last, reluctant pixel conformed. I tried the over-dress conversion with defaults, then with similar morphs, after which the layers nested like 'Russian Dolls'. Bow, knee-pads and in-line skates converted first time. I had problems with the hat, as the conversion would not conform. So, I scaled and parented the original.

Unusually for such a garment, the dress' cut allowed for neat bikini bottoms etc. Though you cannot see them, Posette is wearing 'A3 Idol' briefs, previously converted...

Re: Wardrobe Wizard Vs Cross-Dresser...

Here's something that is working for me.
I start out with posette in a zero pose
import an .obj piece of clothing
move it, size it, etc.....
set parent to body and then save as prop.(smart prop)
open up WW
open up your prop to convert
p4 posette to p4 posette
and hit convert.
For this MD apron I used the normall clothing, tight fit and regroup (In WW).
For anything under the hip use a skirt fit or you'll have a slit in the front/back when you move your posette legs apart.
Have fun!

Re: Wardrobe Wizard Vs Cross-Dresser...
-----------------------------------
helpfull hint when using a sitting pose with conforming clothes:
I was working on Nov. calendar and I wanted to use some clothes from WW I converted.
I wanted to put Lucy in a sitting pose. Now clothes weren't meant to sit (for some reason).
So I worked and worked at it for sometime..........(5 days later) Lucy didn't move.
Until I stumble on to some tools like chainbreak and fall off zones in the joint parameters.
I leave all those morphs WW adds to the end.
Now I know what you're saying you have to redo the joint zones but all the joint zones are same in both figures right down the center and going out to the bulges.
Setup:
step 1: pose and conform clothes ..Holy Crap...!
step 2: chainbreak! This outfit's not that bad up on top... I just don't like those nasty
breaks along the V cut in the front. Now the outfit I used for Nov.'s was real nasty.
I just grab a body part and twist, side-side and bend (clothes of coarse) until I got what I wanted.
step 3: the bottom half. It took me awhile to figure this out!
I played with every joint zone (bulges + and -) there was until I said "this can't hurt".
So I grab the fall off (inter zone) zone and the clothing started to move.........sweet!
You could also go back to the top part of the outfit and use it too.........
step 4: everything is somewhat in place. So tweak away at all your morphs, dials and continue to pose................
Have Fun!

Thanks, Maovin !!

Um, I'm still on P_4. I've got P_7, but cannot install it on my stand-alone 3GHz/3Gb CAD_PC because, like EI's C-D, it must 'phone home' to register. That's what prompted my foray into networking !!

Unfortunately, I've since looked at the P_7 manual and *glazed over*. Perhaps when I'm rested, I'll have another look but, for now, I'm staying with P_4 and C_D on this cut-down Browser_PC. Hmm, I suppose I could upgrade the 768 Mb RAM. That would be silly, though, as the CAD_PC runs twin screens...

D'uh, by the time I get everything settled, I'll need to replace the CAD_PC again. Twin or triple core AMD, 8Gb RAM and whichever Win_OS supports them. Of course, I still do not have a replacement for FloorPlan, or an OBJ modelling application that I can use...

I purchased P7 online last year and all I needed to do was insert the serial number and it worked. I noticed that it goes on the net every time I open it, but it never took any upgrades, I had to install them after a manual download...

If I rmind well, the registration form is not mandatory if not for the SN and the name.

Not a bad fit, You still have to play around alittle bit to get it to fit just right.

Re: Wardrobe Wizard Vs Cross-Dresser...
-----------------------------------
Using clothing props to conform.
I started out with
some conforming clothes from V4: sports bra, boy shorts and sneakers.
I was going to make them conforming to posette using WW
But what I found out was I didn't need to.
Here's how you do it.
First take your character clothes (this only works with clothing
that conform to one part of the body. :bad-words: I tried it out on some dresses, doesn't work to good.)
ex: bras, tops, shorts, mini skirt, underwear and foot wear.
size it to your figure using the dails and morphs...not just the body but go through
the other parts as well.
And for god sakes don't conform it. :shocked!: (you'll have to start over again.)
once you've got it to where you like it export it to an .obj file
You'll see
exporting file options I just left it the way it was.
And then a heir file - mark only what you want to export
The Body of the clothing for ex: I took a minidress and all I needed
to mark was the body, chest and ab. (I left the rest cause I wanted the top part)
And for a shoe ex: if you load a pair a shoes you don't want both right and left shoe
for the right foot so mark the box Body, R_shin, R_foot, R_toe for exporting the R_shoe .obj
:wickedfart: Big Note: And make sure the Universe is marked.
and then save .obj in whatever folder

Importing your new .obj file
unmark all the boxes in the importing options and it should just drop into place
with Textures and all.
delete confroming clothes (don't need them anymore)
double click on .obj and set parent to hip for any hip huggers and to chest for tops
make sure you mark the box that's says bend to parent.
For foot wear set to foot R or L and then lock the foot (of posette) before posing.
For foot wear like cowboy boots that are taller set to R or L toe, still lock foot.

Note for sizing shoes:
When sizing the foot wear I set posette's feet at a bend of 0 to 8,
for heels you might want a little more.
also use heir editor to make R or L shoe invisible when sizing the other. :mmmh: when they come in pairs ofcoarse.

Save to prop:
when saving it should say save as a smart prop (yes).

Note:
Taking clothing from prop files
it might not look as good as it did when you first used it.
no worries just double click on clothing prop and set to bend to parent again.

I hope this helps someone!
I hate conforming shoes and that they come in pairs. Why?

I've recently started using Evilinnocence's "XDresser" (so far, just to add morphs to V4 clothing...); and I am quite pleased with the results. Now my "super curvy" & "ripped & rippled" "Action Girls" will have an easier time getting dressed (maybe getting undressed too...).

Thanks for the comment Tormie! :friends:

I've still only used XDresser for adding morphs to V4 clothing; but I am very satisfied with the results. Only one piece of clothing has had unsatisfactory results; the L33t "Shorts", just sort of exploded. I'll look into it in the near future.

Here is another image; in this one I've used XDresser to add V4 morphss to the "Annetta dress" from Teknology 3D. It made fitting the dress to this dial spin character (Rhonda, my creation) a breeze.

I think that now it is time to get a few licenses, and do some real "Crossdressing"! :D
