Google Chrome
-----------------------------------
Google gave birth to a new browser, it's called "Google Chrome" and it is in Beta stage. I looked at the features and they are nteresting.

The Beta, available only for window$ users is at

http://www.google.com/chrome

It looks very promising, actually it seems to work like Safari (our main page lacks the frames around the thumbnails) and the agent string have also "Safari" in it...

Too early for the ranking, I need a lot of plugins like the ones that I use in Firefox (the main one is the wonderful Advertising Blocker) btw its very fast opening the pages at Posetteforever :shocked!:

Anyway, a payback from GoogleBot after all the candies plundered here

Re: Google Chrome

The anti-Microsoft person in me wants to like it a lot, but something else in me keeps pointing out that the name is rather unfortunate...

Chrome is often used as a description for anything added to software that makes it look neat, but is not all that important.

In hacker parlance, chrome is something to be dismissed, if not derided. Doesn't Google have access to any kind of tech-speech dictionary at all...?

Re: Google Chrome

I think they did it on purpouse... BTW there will be versions for Mac OS and Linux but the beta is only for windows systems. I think that they began with it because the majority of internet surfers are (still) on windows...

Ummm... before anyone thinks of using Chrome, you might want to read this article from The Register. This is NOT good.

Why Google may end up bigger than the known universe.

As of now, I wouldn't touch it with a 10-metre cattle prod.

Mmm...I just used it, it uses lower memory than Firefox 3....but sadly it can't be integrated into Internet Download Manager...

Re: Google Chrome

I found a topic about the copyright thingy on an italian forum (much better understanding for me and no headache  ), they seems to have changed chapter 11 but there is some doubt about chapter 12 :mmmh: , btw it looks like the simply cut&paste from another EULA (like I did for our copyright notice for the download page  ). We'll see what will happen with the final version.

In any case it's a good new because a new browser from Google should speed up the development of Firefox and the other browsers...

P.S. Myabe I love google too much because we're in the first place on searching for "Posette" :) :binky2:
