The "Shades of halloween" contest was decided by a public vote with less than 50 people total having voted. As I would much rather see one of my friends here win a contest there than anyone else, if anyone tells me that they have entered something there, I will be more than happy to tell all of my friends from various sites to vote for them. Normally I would say just let the art speak for itself but it seems that it is one big popularity contest over there most of the time and a lot of good art is being overlooked because people are not in the "in crowd" over there. I know of one artist that was entered in the top twenty one time (he was not part of their click) and they pulled his image saying that he rigged the voting system. There are a lot of good pics in the several contests, but the winners per vote are always have "names" or/and making sexpics! Wether a pic is bad or good - i think, the winner is always a merchant by theirself or a important customer. So, these kind of contests are really doesn't bother me anymore. 1 little exception of the rule was only the sixus1-favorite-pic. I am only a beginner in 3d art, and I have only just posted my first ever pic. I posted it on this site because of the friendly crowd that is here. The response I got has encouraged me to progress to make and publish more images. I post over there under the user name of hiagee, simply because that is how I started and they do not allow for change of user names. Never be afraid to post your pics....you should always be proud of what you do. I know that when I first started posting I never felt my work was any good unless I had a lot of comments saying how good it was and then I realised I was posting for those other people not myself, so now I still post beause I think my pic is good and with real art it is a simple fact that if you think it is good then it is. Never let anyone put you down for what you see as art. You have to be true to yourself and don't allow the "clicks" get you down and make you loose faith in what your doing. I was at that crossroads not that long ago, almost gave it up because I thought my artwork wasn't up to par with others on those sites, but with the kind words of a few people like Den, Davide, Ozy, and a few others back then I kept on posting and did it just because I enjoyed doing my artwork not because I needed to get the comments to say I was good or bad. Here I post art, write in the forums and have a good time as well as on planet 3d. Lately my time is taken up with things that keep me away from the computer so I try and use what time I have to spend on here and planet 3d as I'm a mod on both sites and feel that I should give more of my attention to that. Commercialization of 3D art, Posting an image for a contest, and losing because someone has more friends, and pther childish drama. Like what GP said, most if not all artists do this for one reason and one reason only; because they like too. Nobody is holding a gun to their head saying "post or die". Everyone here does great work, everyone here has their own style, and I see it. If that means anything at all...
