Marv, I think I've found the problem, I have different options because when I install a new Blender release I never remove the application data located in document and setings, I uninstalled everything and removed all directories and reinstalled Blender 2.48a and now I have the same options as you :thumb: 
I did a test morph and the option "morph target" now is "Keep Vert Order" just put your pointer over it and wait some seconds and read the help  :wink: 
The morph I did worked perfectly, please try and comment how did it work for you.
