Subject: Clothing Problems
Hi All,
Ooooh my first post

I am virtually a new beginner with Poser, the problem i am having is when I use the clothing tab. I get everything right, but as soon as I pose the figure, a bit of the clothing will not move right. This result is dresses going through legs. Also parts of the body will show through the clothing.
Please can anyone help?

Welcome to the forum Tazman :bigrinnin: !!

You've to describe the problem a little more: What character are you using ? What kind of dress?

If you've a standard character, for example Posette and a standard dress it usually conforms to the main character exactly when the main character is in the standard pose. If you change the pose strange things could happen... Anyway it looks like your problem is that you applied some morphs to the main character and the dress doesn't fit to the body. I know only a quick solution for this problem: I use "The tailor" which is a program who easily create the same morphs from the body to the dress. The only problem of this program is that it's not free :crybaby: and is sold by Daz :x ...
Another way is to play with the size dials of the dress part that doesn't fit or use magnets.

Thank you Tormentor.
It seems to happen with Posette figure and dresses.
It's the base of the dress, from about the hip down.
If I use a pose that lifts a leg, the dress still will be down, although the rest of the dress will be fine and goes with the pose. I configure the dress to Posette, then click on selecting figure and then select pose.
Sorry that my explaining is not one of the world's greatest. I'm generally useless at trying to explain.

Thanks Tazman :bigrinnin: !!

What are you experiencing is a typical problem of all the Posettes :heartbeat: #-o ... It's not easy to solve it and it happens with gowns. The easiest solution is not to conform the gown to the body but parent it to the hip, pose the body and then manually pose the gown to the body. There were a lot of "modified" gown made by people like PhilC, BatLabs and Isop for example, But I don't think they are still available to download... :-k :-k :-k Now, I've to take my pen and write to those Japanese gurus and ask if they can share again their works... I'll offer the space and bandwidth here...

I'm going just now...

Thank you for your advice, very much appreciated.
I had better make a note of it. Case I forget.

To pose well a "normal" gown to Posette I use magnets too...

Yeeeks magnets !!!!
I'm not brave enough yet :)
Also not sure to use them either.

Hopefully when I am use to using the parent tool I might have to ask advice about the magnet tool.
Sorry for being a pain, and the million and one questions.

No problem :) . Anyway start with the body and the dress in the default pose, then move the dress in order that it fits over the body, than you parent all the dress figure to the hip or another body part (select the option on the menu in the upper part of the screen) . Next you'll apply the pose to the body and than try to pose the dress exactly. Little errors can be fixed in postwork. I use magnet for movements that couldn't be done with normal dials, they are not so difficult to use...

Thank you very much for your help.
I will have to write it all down, so I won't forget it.
I suppose I should take things one step at a time, but hey who does, :bigrinnin:
Well better go,
Thanks again for your help.
Taz.
By the way, just a reminder, turn back the clocks tonight, :)

Sometimes, i make parts of the figurebody invisible,
e.g. in boots, the toes are not to see, so i can make
them invisible, if they show through the boots.
In some cases, this is a quick and dirty help. Such a
thought...

Oh yes, thank you PoserKatz :bigrinnin: !! I use the same technique ! You can even render the picture twice, put the images on two layers and delete the unecessary parts !

I just thought I would let you know that I have just tried the parent tool. It works great. Thank you so much for your help. I thought that if I conformed the dress to the figure, that the pose would work, and it didn't. But now by doing the way you have said, works perfectly. I would never have guessed it.
Thanks again Tormentor, you have saved me many weeks trying to work this out. (actually I don't think I would have worked it out on my own). It's me age !!! :bigrinnin:

Thank you Poserkatz for that tip as well. I have a prolem when trying to fit boots on, I can never seem to get a perfect fit, there is always a bit of foot sticking out.

Thank you to you both for the excellent advice given.
My apologies for appearing thick, and to keep having to ask for help.
