You should have 1 GB memory installed, you need 1 Gb or more DDR PC3200 400MHz (Non ECC) memory module and install it on the mainboard near the default one. You should open the case (unplug the PC before doing it ) and search for the memory modules, ther should be some sockets free, here is where you have to add the new module. If you search on google for "VGC-RA830G ddr" you can find what you need, I found 1 gb module for 79 $

I've 2 DDR 400 modules here for free but I can't just pass them through the monitor

Thanks for the comment.   I have already loaded it out. It has four sockets and has 512x4 in it already. Was wondering if I could use a connection with an outside source and increase to 6 or 8 gig in external box of some sort.

Well kenny, I think 2 Gigs are enough, but that scene is very BIG. If you want to make an animation I suggest you to make it as a serie of rendered pictures with the single character and then overlay one to another, for a single render jsut do the same... If you want to increase memory more than 2 gis you've to buy 4x1Gb DDR module (or more) and put it in place of the older ones. no other chances, I'm sorry. External memory modules were common on very old architectures, like 80x086 PCs. As far as I know there is nothing similar for modern PCs even because those modules would be very very slow...

P.S. and I'm not sure if it's a problem of memory of a problem of Poser 5

I don't know either. Very strange.   Even though I have four slots for memory and by theory can load 512 x 4 to make it 2048 megs of memory, the Sony Viao won't let me put in 1gig x4 to give it 4 gigs of memory. Only two.

I don't understand. I thought you had already 4 memory modules of 512 gigabytes installed, so you should have to replace all of them with 4 1 gb modules and it should work...

I do but from what Sony says about it I can have only 2 gigs max. 4x512. I asked about 4x4gigs and they said that it was set up for only two max. I had 1 gig when I bought the PC's.

Ok, then we go for plan #2   . (Meanwhile I go to Sony site to look at the specs for the PC)

Ok Davide. They are loaded. The PC's themselves weigh about 35 pounds a piece.

Looked them , you're right, only 2 gigs max... But it's strange       However you're already maxed out . My opinion is that 2 Gigs are enough. I should have installed the same size on my baby here, here is a photo. Yep it's a kind of Dynosaur but I exchanged this case with something else some times ago, lol...

Looks big enough to be a server. What kind is it? Also what kind of PC do you have now?

I've this same PC Kenny, I mean, I had the case exchanging it with something else sometimes ago... It has not a "kind" because I built it myself taking all pieces here and there ...

Here is a shot of the angle where My PC lives, it's behind my comfy armchair full of thousands of farts , the PC on the right is an old one that I've to sell on ebay (*ehm* *ehm*) that's good to build a mediacenter (the case is a cavalier 2) and it's not connected now...

So what is in it? The PC I mean. What is the processor and all the rest? Very interesting.

The case is an AT with a 650 Watt power supply and a lot of fans The mainboard is an ASRock (a chinese brand) that I've to replace with an ASUS soon (I took it because is a hybrid motherboard with an AGP and a PCI Express socket, and DDR and DDR2 socket because I needed to use old modules, but now I've a PCI Express card and DDR2 only ), the Grapic card is a ATI X1650 (it has the RV530 LE chipset) that is a mid level card, the memory modules are 2 x 1 BG DDR2 modules, The Hard disk is a SATA Maxtor 320 GB (but I've an external 750 GB attached too) and there's a U.S. Robotics wireless card inside. it has a Logitech G5 mouse (great for gaming , you can add or keep out weights on it) and a very big 22'' CRT Belinea 108080 Monitor that I bought as "refurbished hardware" and is said to be one of the best for graphic. I've also attached a low entry dolby surround system that I bought at the mall and Sennheiser headphones.
