Actually, a computer having a name is not ususal.  That has been the standard operating procedures at least a few decades.  That is where the idea for DNS (Domain naming system) originated.   If that quirky habit did not exist, then we would have to enter http://64.202.167.216 to visit PosetteForever.  There is a RFC that provides guidelines on how to select names for a computer.  Such as naming machines based on a theme.  and not naming them with the named of the people who use them, etc.

not exactly, that is the IP of the whole server.

Right, which would add the extra complications of either having to assign unique IP's for each veritual server, or the main server have an index page with links to all websites that it hosts.  Which is why naming computers is not strange after all.
