Post I'm still around....

Hi all!
I haven't left Posetteforever! I like it to much here. Problem is times are difficult for me and my family right now.  I lost my cable connection due to price hikes. $60 a month is just to much for me. I am currently trying to get on DSL at half that price. But that's not suppose to be active until next month. There was a little mix up on the company's side of signing up. They inadvertantly deleted my account and had to create a new one. This caused our activation date to be change from Nov 15th to Dec 1st. I only have connection to net via work. Also, I only get some time to view internet from work as I am currently working two jobs to try and keep the old head above water. The wife lost her job and we really needed the income. Good news is she found another job, bad news is she doesn't start until Dec 1st. So just so you all know I am still around just not as much right now. Hopefully that'll change in the near future!
Thanks for the shoulder off to do some more work!

I was just thinking about you yesterday. I wondered why or where you was. Glad to here things are getting back to sort of normal. I can relate to those charges. I went to DSL light. See you around.

The dsl uses the normal phone line for broadband, it's popular and cheap to install because it doesn't need a dedicated cable, like the optical one...

Thanks all!
TdaC ~ DSL use your existing phone line to connect. It's only a tad slower than a cable connection. I had cable at home and we use DSL at work. I can notice a difference as far as loading times, but it's about 30 times faster than dial-up. Plus I don't have to have two phone lines to use it. Cable is about 50 times faster than dial-up. I tried visiting on dial-up from home and it would take close to a minute for each page to load there. Here at work it's a matter of seconds for it to load.

Money problems always lead to other problems.
I hope that things work out for you and your family.

I'm on cable here, myself.  I used to have the hi-speed version.
Downloads were sometimes up to 300K per second on FTP sites.
That costed $43.00 CDN per month.  Since I don't download
much, I went to the Lite version.   It's $24.95 per month.
Downloads are about 14K per second.  It's slow, but I don't
use the net much anymore.  It's good enough for me.
I may switch to the DSL and digital TV next year.
The TV offerings are much better than cable and you can pick what you
want to see, instead of what the cable company forces you to take.
We only have one cable and one phone provider here.

Take care

Thanks Den! We only have one cable and one phone provider here as well. And the cable doesn't provide us with an option of full or lite. You get full or nothing. I am definatley going to go with direct tv after we get our bills caught up. All the channels are digital for one, and you get 125 channels for $36 US. Cable only gives you 60 channels for same price and they are not digital. If you want digital on cable you have to rent the box for $6 a month extra each box, and then only the channels from 99 up are digital. I only hope that I can get the dish to work as our view of the south has quite a few trees. I talked to the company and they are sending a technician out to see if in fact we can even consider the dish.
