Yea, me too. That is something that sounds really strange. Mostly I have i have been reading the tutorial, free items and gallery forums. So, I have missed the records of that incident.

One change that I have noticed was a public announcement by a current admin that a merchant that was banned by the old owners has now been reinstated. The new management makes it sound as the reason for tha past banning was the pettiness of old owners.

Subject: Re: DAZ has bought Poserpros
I lurked the site and saw that Mehndi has been banned but I don't find why...

Anyway the plce is too hot in this period and I think it's better to stay out of the kitchen when it is so hot =; =; =; ...

I suggested something about their cookie problems in their support forum (Yeah ! I'm not the only one who caused them, lol :bigrinnin: ) and I was very, very tempted to suggest PF where an user asked for an alternative  , but Posy said that it would be unfair O:) O:) O:)

I am surprised to hear that you are not the only one who caused them lol bigrinnin. Where were you tempted to suggest PF where an user asked for an alternative whistle but you said that it would be unfair Osmile Osmile Osmile?

well i think that one of the owners got banned as a merchant for copyright infrigement. :-k Then 3 of the staff quit and came back, when they decided to sell it.... i think that was how it was anymway.
I don't know what i think, it kinda depends on how much the site will change is changed.... I have never been a big dazfan 8-[
I don't care if ppl are interested in all the buying and selling, i mean it doesn't bother me just because i'm not. I just prefer places that are fun and nice, without all the selling /buying stuff. I just like making morphs, even if they're not the greatest; i like coming up with textures even if they're not the best looking. I like trying to figure out how to improve renders and coming up with solutions....

I think that none of us here is a "pro", a person who is paid do to things for computer art: I think that all the free stuff shared here are just wonderful because they were made with passion ! And personally I like a lot your morphs even if I don't use them so much, but it's only because every time I begin something with a new character I end with a Posy's picture    ...

Now i think is time to tell ya, what i think.
Very very interesting readings here to that question.
I was unsure, what i should thinking...

As a merchant (but i don't one, i learned it, that's all),
i think, DAZ has much money and they want to be bigger,
because merchants have to grown bigger or they will die
finally - that's the marketing world.

They bought bryce (after Corel had bryce broken with it's usual
shitty merchandising-politic), than they bring up DAZ Studio because
rivalties with Poser (there was a big big fight since Poser 5 and DAZ
don't wanted accept regularies of the owners of Poser, meshes and
so on, copyrights, they made as Zygote, later as DAZ for Poser - i
understand this) - since month DAZ have made some failings with
new products (the ugly bigface lion, girl as a short hype, David has
only a few customers interested and so on), so they have to make
things to coming back as Nr.1 in Poser-Items/Characters.

The fastest and most secure way is: buy your concurrents. That's all.
But is it the best way? I don't think so, but it is the fact.

I bet, the future of Poser, characters and other related stuff will be
"the most mainstream", you can imagine. The places for alternative
stuff will less - more and more - and quality will go down more and more,
i think.

If i see merchandise on rendo - muhaha, 90% V3-characters, and all are similar.
1000s variations of Barbie.

But it really doesn't bother me, i don't buy much things, because i don't have
the money for that, and for my works i don't need those stuff.

But i know, that's only the beginning...
I hope, some places ( also the places with a percentage of commercial) will
not go down and not will be eaten by these "merchandising-war".

Posetteforever is strictly non-commercial, for that there is no danger for this place,
till Tormie may be changes his mind (in the past i've seen a lot of noncommercials,
which become a little commercial and finally commercial) - but here i think, Posetteforever
will be stay a friendly community without merchandising, and that's good.

Let them (the others) blast them one against the other - we can live without them.
That's what i think about.

Daz and the rest are like anything else. It's up to the artist and the product they have to work with to get a point across with their work. I sometimes use a little of this and a little of that. The thing everyone seems to forget is the name Poser. It is a tool used for model humans and animals or anything with moving parts to be Posed. It is usless to be used from scratch because of so many things
envolved around it's process. Such as PSP) is a bitmap graphics editor for computers running the Microsoft Windows operating system that was originally published by Minneapolis-based Jasc Software. In October 2004, Corel Corporation bought out Jasc software">paint shop pro, Adobe photoshop, bryce, Vue, Vobs builder, Modelers, etc. So really what it boils down to is if it was not for people in this chain building textures, morphs, backgrounds and things, Poser would be a flop and wouldn't survive on it's own. As far as people being Pro I used to do this with T'shirts at a place wher I lived. It was a good thing and I think it is nice to know some of my work made it as far as Canada. I always like the idea people where interested in what I had to offer instead of just making money. But hey you got to eat sometime. If people like to do this for fun then thats great to. I for one have fun and have made some wonderful friends in doing so. But my real job comes first over this. But if I had a chance to make this full time as a job. I don't think there is a one of you here that wouldn't agree that it would be a cool thing to do.
So in closeing Daz does their thing and we do ours. You don't have to go over a neighbor's house if you don't like them sort to speak.

I agree friends. Poserkatz, don't have fear, Posetteforever won't become commercial for a series of reason, the most important of them is that Posette has not a market. But from my point of view the site is my personal way to cure stress, like I do with my pictures. I'm not totally against commercialism, I'm absolutely with those artists who make money with their own art, selling their Poser models or the T-Shirt commerce of Kenny or Poserkatz's group ( :-k :-k :-k It's a great idea, it could be good to try something similar :-k :-k :-k). It will be great to earn so much money in this way to leave my damned work (Tormie dreams  ...). What I really don't like are the influence of those big firm,s like Daz, on the art. The purpose of places like Posetteforever or other independent places is to discuss about art and share artworks, pictures and 3d items, not to discuss about how the store goes well, if this or that product sell enough or the place to show your pictures for the only reason to sell the products shown in it ...

I think that the Poser's characters, morphs, textures, props etc. that are sold on commercial sites costs too much. I understand the large amount of work and people involved in the process, but they have to know that the larger part of the users are not rich enough to spend so much money for a hobby. I can buy a hair package if it costs 5$ not 30...

About Daz Studio/Poser. I tried Daz Studio but I don't like it, maybe because it was difficult to learn Poser's commands and I see no reason to learn a similar product that, at last, does the same things.

In this moment I'm happy enough for what I already have: I don't make pictures in photorealistic style so I don't need the last ultradetailed megapolygonal package, I'll try to refine my style but I don't tend to photorealism so I don't need a new software and Posy and me are so linked tha I don't really need another virtual woman...

How? You really do? What do you like? Good then you can explain it to me. Is a hair package if it costs 5$ not 30 a good deal? I'm not sure if I would like to try Daz Studio but he or she do not like it maybe because it was difficult to learn Poser's commands . What's it like? Where do you see no reason to learn a similar product that at last does the same things? That reminds me of something you told me before.
