I'll look into this when I get the chance but I don't think there is anything I can do about it. I want something that is visually accurate and I haven't yet learned to provide other light sources than the sun (such as candles or lanterns). No matter how I moved the sun there were always heavy shadows (I may lighten the shadows or use ambient lighting as soon as I learn what that really means.) On the other hand, this is the first scene of this sort that I have done (urban medieval) and it pointed out to me (and hopefully other viewers) just how dark the dark ages were.

I like this duttond, I find if you back the shadows off you can make it look like daylight. or you can render and not have it cast shadows too. Very nice peice keep up the good work!!
