Pic Description: Sammael - much feared and misunderstood - is the Angel of Death. In some Rabbinical texts and in Islam, the archangel is called Azrael, and it is said that forever he writes and erases in a large book - "what he writes is the birth of a person, what he erases is the name of the person at death." Rabbinical lore has it that it was this archangel who brought God a handful of earth from which humanity was created. But as the "Wings of Death," colored in muted earth tones, Sammael arrives to comfort those who find themselves wrenched from their bodies at the time of death. Embracing the terrified souls, Sammael guides them to heaven to meet God . . .
