Post Album Comments Notification

#1  Ozymandias Jones 12 May 2003 12:15

Hi Tormie,

Just a suggestion. It there any way of notifying the new comments in the Album about a pic you have posted. Or having all the new comments show up in the posts-since-last-visit link.

Not an essential tool, but might make it easier to see what is happening in the Album.

Ozymandias.

Hi Ozy, I think that the album is not well done for the pourposes of this forum, I'm not the author of this piece of software, is an add-on for the phpBB forums made by smartor (http://smartor.is-root.com). Searching for already-made galleries on the net I found only a commercial solution, but is exactly like the smartor album (and it costs 149$, the smartor's album is free). As you know i succeded in making some modification, but I'm not a coder (I'm a bus driver   ). Anyway I've to steal the "notify by email" feature from the posting mechanism and apply it to the album, but I'm an hobbyst also as a coder   . I wrote this only to say that if someone, an expert coder for example, would help, he/she is welcome, I use a test board on lycos for experiments.

We can even leave the album and create a forum as a gallery (a poll ?)

Or... Wait a little time

No problem Boss,

I'm happy to leave it the way it is for now. I think you've done a brilliant job so far for a bus driver

I could probably figure it out if you want me to have a look at it.
(It might take awhile)

I am familiar with Fortran, C++, Pascal and Visual Basic.
Here is a program I wrote last year. It appeared in Sky & Telescope magazine in August 2002.

I also made a similar version for planet Mars.

This is a Royal Astronomical Society of Canada site :

[color=#6400ff:9a2c044ce3] Thank you Den, I'm glad to hear your words, I created an ftp account to the site for you (I send you name&password with PM), you can find the "album" mod for phbb board at http://smartor.is-root.com in the downloads page, but I made little changes, take a look when you've enough time... (Dont' worry... I backed up the whole stuff...).

A temporary solution: One can post his/her picture in the album, then right click it, select "properties" and copy the url, then post a normal message and use the [i:9a2c044ce3]IMG[/i:9a2c044ce3] BBcode feature to link to the image (paste the URL, select the text you pasted and click on the IMG button over here), then write the text, or simply post the image as an attachment (See "Poetry" in "Posette's Playground" for a little example).

Bye[/color:9a2c044ce3]

Sounds like you have the situation under control there Mr. Site Owner !
(To get to this point with the site requires a fair bit of accumulated knowledge, my friend)

I'll have a look and see if  I can do something.  There might be an easier way to do it, or the way you have done it may be the only way.
