Post Finger Trouble...

#213  Nik 25 Jun 2008 01:14

Remember I used C-D to make Vicky1 RR into a Posette mannequin ?? Well, I managed to lose the converted file...

Of course, I only realised that after *twice* fingertip-searching entire Runtime, then using XP's 'file search' by estimated conversion date to be sure, to be sure...

It must have happened several weeks ago, perhaps I deleted a !WIP character directory after aborting a file-move or copy...
And, of course, it was one of the very few times I did not save the project as a PZ3...

D'uh...

At least I still had the 6 Mb C-D influence file.
However, I'd *also* managed to delete the modified Vicky CR2 that pointed to the renamed 'RR' OBJ used. No problem: CR2Edit (v1.51) easily changed both pointers in a fresh copy of the V1 RR file.

With influence file available, C-D did not need a 20~~25 minutes conversion. It re-worked V1 RR in a dozen seconds...

Phew !!

And, I got daring-- I opened a copy of RR's texture file in Paint, clumsily air-brushed the blue 'sloggi' to smudgy skin. Okay, the result looks like a well-worn, flesh-coloured cat-suit, but I'm not complaining....
---

Sorry, Posfan-- With all that, I did not have time to convert the 'Miku for NearMe' you spotted: Perhaps tomorrow...

Post 'Miku For NearMe' For Posette-- And BecoP4F...

#214  Nik 25 Jun 2008 15:32

Posette's new CosPlay costumes swept the prizes...
---

Well, I finally ran 'Miku for NearMe' through C-D. Those thigh boots conformed perfectly, to my surprise. Shirt, skirt etc conformed by default. I had to 'scale and parent' the hair. 'Rin for NearMe' converted well, too. Again, I had to 'scale and parent' the hair...

As Beco has built-in 'sloggi' smalls, only the 'Miku' costume would fit. Stage is the recent Renderosity freebie by 'Creepy'.

Post Another Sci-Fi Night At The Pink Dodo Club...

#215  Nik 27 Jun 2008 18:28

Again, Posette stepped out in style for Sci-Fi night at the exclusive Pink Dodo Club...

...
While searching my E: archive for a free version of Deep Exploration, I stumbled on another cache of Poser freebies. These thigh-high platform boots began as a HT3D freebie for V2 by hawktoey / crbennett. Their ReadMe says to hide 'covered' parts, but C-D defaults gave a perfect fit. No poke throughs. None. So, credit where due...

Long Bustier is Taruru's classic 'naughty'. Hood prop is part of a Chris Cox' Eroko set, scaled and parented. The Tentacle hair is Ajax' DAZ high-polygon freebie for V3/M3, but scaled and parented to Posette. Wings are Mike's Weird Wings for Vicky2, a freebie prop long vanished from Renderosity. Spiked collar is part of the infamous Devilicious set. Gloves are again Animotions' free 'SML Hero Gloves', with hands and fore-arms hid, glove upper-arms slightly tapered...

Welcome to PF Mechanismo ...

Those cosplay Posettes are too pretty Nik !

Tonight I'll dust crossdresser myself because Posy is talking about her dress too much . I don't even know if my Posette license is valid with version 3

Post Oh ! I Didn't See You There !!

#222  Nik 29 Jun 2008 00:17

Posette preferred a casual look on quiet mornings...

-
I'd collected some Aiko3 items while looking for GHEB life-cycle stuff, finally got around to un-zipping and C-D'ing them.

Top and shorts by Mochi, I'll post more from his two sets tomorrow. Soft boots by Tentman, hide feet and toes. Hair is again Akashi.

I ran out of time after unravelling the file-paths in a complex Shukky set. Unfortunately, several CR2s specified D: paths, others had folder names in Japanese, while some expected the OBJ in character library, although there was a well-placed Geometries folder. Needless to say, I was NOT amused...

Post Flower Couch...

#223  Nik 30 Jun 2008 22:25

"Oooh, it was so cosy, I just fell asleep..."

-
I've been un-zipping some of the furniture I've downloaded from Eric Saltel's BIG archive or Archive3D.net.

They're a mixed bag...
Some have broken meshes, with parts misplaced. A 3D editor could fix them-- Perhaps later...
Some, with larger file sizes, seem to choke P_4. The import does not appear and half the Poser menus go gray...
Some only have one material, so need patient 'grouping' or 'unwrapping'.
A few have odd 'normals', so are grossly triangulated...

After trying furniture all evening, Posette finally tired...

Post Re: Wardrobe Wizard Vs Cross-Dresser...

For what it is worth, I used both Wardrobe Wizard and Cross Dresser. Both are very useful but I like Cross Dresser's one-click design.

Post Cross-Dresser V2.7 Vs V3...

#225  Nik 01 Jul 2008 13:39

Hi, Crimmy !

I have not upgraded to v3 as I'm still finding my way around v2.7. I only have licences for P4F & P4M, and I only run 'medium resolution' conversions. Happens they suit my modest needs...

There's a lot of fun Anime stuff available for Kururu, but that figure does not seem to have a C-D conversion matrix. Perhaps Kururu's author is reluctant to allow it ? Perhaps the body-shape 'does not compute' ?? I've had a couple of GG's earliest garments 'crash' C-D, so I know there are limits. FWIW, I know just enough about meshes, modelling and matrix math to be very amazed that C-D works at all, never mind so well...

Although this thread has become an almost-blog of my adventures with C-D, it is still 'WW vs C-D': Could you post some of your conversions, especially 'compare & contrast' ??
