Post Stuff Of Nightmare...

This URL has a heap of classic horror stories. They vary in length and quality, many are exasperatingly *turgid*, some seem to be missing a few words, but they may offer a useful reference and unexpected inspiration.

I used to have it flagged as one of several repositories for the Shadow tales but, when some-one bought up the copyright ahead of a possible film franchise, lawyers forced removal of the original magazine and book tales. IIRC, many of the derived radio plays were not covered by the legalese so stayed on-line, else-where...

And, yes, the Clark Ashton Smith site is at......

Post Have You Read...

Hi, Tormie, have you read the two relevant Charles Stross books, 'Atrocity Exhibition' and 'Jennifer Morgue' ??

Their premise is that all the Chthulu mythos is *real*, and Alan Turing (RIP) accidentally found a way to systemitise 'magic' using maths and procedural language.

Snag is that many modest variations of mathematical constructs familiar to eg render engines may cast geometric shadows into 'other spaces' that attract unpleasant whatsits. Home brewing a new, 'real neat' algorithm could get you eaten-- Or worse...

Did you say 'Computational Demonology' ?? Uh-huh. As one of the hilarious asides comments, it gives a whole new meaning to eg 'memory leak'...

Fortunately, each country has a covert organisation that cleans up resulting mess, by recruiting the fortunate or burying what was left of the rest. UK's is cheerfully mis-known as 'The Laundry'. They're NOT MIB, that's for sure...

Oh well Nik, it sound EXTREMELY interesting for me ... Lately I was reading some book with collection of sci-fi novels appeared on Playboy in the past but I really need some qualified suggestions like this because sometimes I buy books that are rubbish like on I bought something like "the society of immortals" (I don't know the real english title, it's a translation from the italian title) that i forced myself to use as toilet paper till the last page (except the covers...) . Actually I'm deep in the implications of the Occam's razor principle...
