Subject: Pissed Off With Virus Emails
For the past few weeks I have been getting emails which I know will likely
contain a virus.
They come in two parts.
One part is a password protected .bmp file for which the password is provided.
The other could be either a .doc, .cpl or .hta file.
Downloading and opening will launch whatever shit is in these things.
I am not STUPID enough to open them or download them.
Some of these were coming from a Poser artist's site under the webmaster's
email address. I contacted this person and they assured me that they were not
sending emails out.

Do not open any mail from :

The emails always come as Re:Forums, Re:Message Reply, Re:Hello and other
nonsense.

There have been several other names as well with similar content.
What disturbs me about this most is that these started almost immediately after I
posted an image to PoserPros and Renderosity.

When I check my email and find suspicious content in the Inbox and Bulk Mail,
I find this shit at least two or three times a day, sometimes more...

:x Same here, I received a total of three virus-emails and said it to all of you. Anyway Den, you can see the REAL sender only extracting the full header and submitting it to a service like Spamcop (www.spamcop.net). The virus simply bring an address from outlook express and use it. I received the virus-emails from ... me or Posy so I'm sure that one of you has the virus on the PC...

I don't have any type of virus on either of my PC's.
Your email address or Posy's isn't even in my address book.

When I sent you something, last year I think, I did not add you to my address book list.
(Shame on me... )

So...I know that any of the emails virus' did not originate with me.

I'm not saying that you sent the virus Den, it's someone that has my address in his address book, or, the address of the webmaster of the other sites, in your case. Someone with my address in his address book sent a virus with my name as the sender. The only way to see who really sent the email is extrating his ip address fron the header, and contacting his internet provider.

No problem Den, I've not your email address too, but I've your home address, your telephone number, your credit card numbers and some hot photos :bigrinnin:

No problem Kenny :bigrinnin: ! In any case, if you've a virus sent it to Den Tracy, it will become very "[i:56d2a9d7e1]incazzato nero[/i:56d2a9d7e1]"

Whew !
Boy am I glad that you don't have any important things to post on the Internet.
I would have been really, really, really worried if I was in your email address book... 8-[

All those other things that you mentioned are nothing... everyone already has all that info... 8-[

^^^ :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: ^^^

onto serious stuff:

i've had this same problem for 2 months now. i thought it was coming from a friend in college who's computer at home was rittled with viruses but even after he clean his computer up i still received them. i use norton anti-virus, it updates a couple times a week and i do at least one complete scan of all my drives once a week.

i have yet to have found a virus on my system yet (thankfully). but it still bugs the hell outta me that i'm receiving these on a regular basis. much like den its at least once sometimes 2-3 times a day. in some cases they are listed as coming from MY site with an email address we do not even have registered up and never have.

for a few of the people here that have signed up on our site please let me knwo if you receive any with @digitalhippies.com as the sender. the only accounts used by the admins of our site is: admin-at-digitalhippies.com, or hash/pbnj-at-digitalhippies.com. if you receive one with ANY other accounts such as staff, store, siteadmin, etc. these are not from us!

My work email address gets about fourty to fifty virus emails each day and growing. Monday mornings are the best with the whole weekend of back emails.

I deal with so many people and most of them are too stupid, or to lazy, to do anything about virus protection. I just set Norton to auto delete anything suspicious and go from there.

Occasionally it gets rid of something not infected, but I look at it the same as a missed phone call... If it's important they'll call again :bigrinnin:

I get them on a constant basis too. Its usually either a Netsky variation or a version of the Bagle virus. I use a mail scanner on a server to remove anything that looks suspicious so by the time I actually get any E-mails they are clean. I then start to trouble shoot by the IP of the mail server that originally sent the E-mail to see just exacty who it is that is infected.
