Well, I learned a little more about .htaccess files and moved there the list of banned IP addresses (IP that come from spammers). It should move the load from the site to the server (maybe) resulting in the site being a little bit faster because it has not to check so many IPs. I've updated the .htaccess file in the free stuff page and for the pictures, I don't know if it will work but it should be not possible to see a picture on the site linked in another place...

I have linked my gallery at PF on my page www.ahjah.de(the complete gallery, no single pics) .
I'll log out and delete my cookies, and give it a try...

The link to the gallery works :mmmh: maybe deep linking of individual pics doesn't.

Your link at your site is "regular", if you click it you go here. "Leechers" uses on their site the pictures that are on another site, stealing bandwidth: for example if you put on a site a picture taken from here (the picture appears on the site but it's phisically on PF) it should show the picture of the death :uuh: ... But I'm not sure if this works... The album has it's own protection on pictures because they are stored with an encrypted name and shown in another (complicate things for Tormie :doh: ) way... (sigh...)

I tried to test this right now
I uploaded a plain page only with the image link at www.ahjah.de/test.html .
I logged out here and deleted all the cookies again. To be certain I restarted my browser(Opera).
But the page shows the direct linked pic, too :mmmh:
One strange thing, I did get the "noThumb" thingie with Posy's portrait in the welcome message on PF frontpage (the one you get when not logged in)

Thank you for the test page, it will be useful to test my experiments :redface: . I fixed the Welcome Message right now, now I'm going to experiment a little more :tormie: ...

BTW I'm not too much concerned about bandwith theft: we're using only a small percentage of the allowed bandwidth, but sometimes the site is slow and maybe someone is stressing it with hotlinks or worse... I've also found the way to block nasty referers, I've a full list of referes in the administration panel and found interesting things, like links from porn sites or free hosting site, I went there ( not to the porn sites :liar: ) and found nothing on Posetteofrever, so they are hotlinking something... (banned)

P.S. Andreas, can you put something more on that page ? for example a smilie hotlinked from here... :pray:

I linked a typical PF smilie, but whenn you allow my page to hotlink, it don't work for testing any more :grin: :snooty:

:patpat: Ok, I allowed you for hotlinking the picture, the smiles ( :pizza: :grin: ) "works", I mean it is not visible (if you refresh the page), so I'm satisfied :wink:

Ahh yes, and there's a watermark at the album pic and the compression is higher :grin:

:mmmh: The compression is still the same (no compression) Do you think that the pictures are compressed? I'll test... yes, I was testing watermarks, I have put them for unregistered users, they will remember to register :grin: , if you want to test it you've to log out...

Ok, I figured it out. If I put the watermark the picture is recompressed, without watermark it's in its original glory. Now, I want to use watermarks to push people to the registratin , but I want to ask if for you it's a good idea :mmmh:
